Put a Runcam Split 3 Micro on a FlexRC Ascent 4 inch frame. The hd footage with WDR turned off is excellent, IMO. The end result is super compact, makes little noise, flies for over 10 minutes of cruising, records beautiful HD and has an AUW of only 224 grams (including a 3s 1000mah lipo). Am really happy with the results.

Fun fact, there's a Split compatible with DJI Caddx Vista! These Runcam Splits were just coming out back when I last flew FPV and I was really excited for them. I'm sad that they've fallen by the wayside in the modern era. They're an excellent way to save weight, especially on constrained builds targeting sub250g, since modern GoPros require substantial modification to bring their weight down. Came to watch this to see if I want to install the Nano into a 4" LR to get HD recording while staying below 250g.

Completely unrelated... I've never had a real interest in 3d printing until you started messing around with them and sharing your experiences so far. Now I feel I like I need one for some reason, and I barely even use TPU stuff on my quads! Damn you Joshua, now I have all these open tabs for Ender 3 upgrades and slicer settings, and I don't even own one yet! Oh man, down the rabbit hole I go with another costly hobby that I'll probably fall madly in love with. My wallet does not thank you sir, but I do.

I got my ender 3 pro last year to just print tpu for my quads. Once you get it, you realize how useful it is for stuff just around the house. I've fixed my dishwasher, refrigerator, and countless other things, all with my printer. You can't enter one room in my house where there's not a 3d printed part lol.

@@WrongWayFPV - That's awesome, I'm seeing a lot of that out there. Doorstops, pen holders, outlet covers, all kinds of goodness. The Ender 3 Pro is the exact one I'm really considering. Banggood USA has them on the cheap right now, but the shipping... :( About the same price on Amazon. I'm really tempted, that's for sure. Just doing some more research first. Let me ask you this please? If you could do it all over again, knowing what you know now, would you recommend I start with Ender 3 Pro, or do you recommend something else? My main interest is quad goodies for sure, but will likely branch out a bit you like you have. Thanks WrongWay! :)
@WrongWayFPV4 жыл бұрын
@@RADERFPV if I had to do it over, I'd still get the ender 3.. Is just a great reliable printer. If you decide to go with the ender 3 pro, let me know, I have a cura profile that prints tpu and pla flawlessly. The only changes you have to make are the speeds at which it prints. Pla=50mm TPU= 20mm

Hey! I know this is an old video but im looking for a helpful reply or two. I just got into FPV this month, I got a tiny hawk 3 rtf kit. I just got the guts to fly it outside and I love flying outdoors now, but the power to weight and lesser power on the 1s is not enough for me for outdoors. I’m thinking about getting a TH2 freestyle, which runs on 2s but is still small, and I can use the 1s batteries for both of my quads, but I’m not happy with the recording quality, and I’d like to make atleast watchable videos. So im thinking about building a 2.5 inch drone with 2s and this camera on it, for the onboard recording. I’m doing research and running into a few problems, I’ve never seen a 2.5 inch frame that has room for the split design of this camera. Second problem is I’m unsure what flight controller to get to support this and 2s since I’ve never seen a 2s drone run this camera. Appreciate any help I can get :)

Awesome flying and review, Joshua! 😃 Those nano HD cameras really surprised me! I have the Baby Turtles and saw lots of videos of the RunCam as well and they seem much better than their bigger brothers! 😃 There's a model from Hawkeye that records in 4k as well, with only one lens, and the footage is beautiful! The only problem is the latency that is much worse. 😕

You can't unfortunately, this is the case for most of the split and hybrid cameras, and DVRs. Since they don't have their own battery, they don't know what the date is, so they either use some stock value (2013 anyone?) or just pick a random date.

I was about to ask about aspect ratio then I saw your FPV over HD overlay, I want a micro HD camera that records full 4:3. The Tarsier's two lenses are perfectly aligned (at least on my v1), the 16:9 HD recording is centered to the 4:3 FPV camera, but its 4:3 HD recording is off center :( and they still haven't addressed this through a firmware update, I don't think Caddx give a crap about fixing their products after they're released :(

Hey Joshua, Great channel. Can you talk to Fatshark and let them know that there is a whole open market for plus sized diopters. All of the diopters on the market for Fatshark goggles is minus sizes -2,-4,-6. I have seen forums where there are many people who have to alter, rig, hillbilly engineer the lenses to be able to use them. Fatshark would probably sell a bunch more goggles if they had Plus diopters. Its the ONLY reason I cannot enjoy Fatshark products. I would definitely purchase some Fatsharks if I could see the image.
