I think the reason most of the other cameras don’t do 4:3 and low latency is just because of the special chip. Without the chip, they need to choose the settings they think will be the best option. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the camera sensors did support the faster frame rate. If they don’t then they probably went with a cheaper sensor to offset the perceived loss of value due to not having all the adjustments.

Giving up the adjustments is a big deal to me. I snapped up a few DJI Vista (metal case) cameras when you reported them going out of production a few months ago. With what's available now I think the Nebula Pro is the winner. That said I really like the polar as a "budget" choice. What I'm waiting patiently for is a DJI whoop size VTX that isn't a science project. The "naked" vista just scares me.

The wasp looks really bad imo. Maybe its just youtube but i saw a ton more compression/blurryness below the trees and in the grass. The DJI (Cam #2) didn't look remotely as bad as the other two

It really makes no difference, whether it goes 4:3 to 16:9, as the 16:9 is just cropping, the 4:3 anyway

Your camera protector gave it away lol. I like to run the nebula pro with a run cam lense. I actually didn't realize how much the aperture cleaned up the picture. Even though I was able to decipher the two I still think I would buy the run cam because until now I really didn't care to change it or notice.

The Runcam Wasp has some shimmer I'm not to keen on. I also like to adjust the settings ...Tweak them. The BIGGEST question is why no one, but Nick Burns, is talking about the Runcam Falcon? 120fps, fully adjustable settings, 1920 x 1080 full 1080p resolution! vs. the Wasp only 720p. And, it didn't have any shimmer in Nick's video, plus it weighs in at only 4g vs. 7.5g with the Wasp! You do pay a mere $15 more than the Wasp, so it's $154.99, but still $10 less than the Caddx Nebula Pro, or Pro Nano. And, it had significantly better lower light sensitivity than the Nebula Pro Nano! 😎🤘 I'd like to see this test, please JB, with that Falcon camera added.

Albert Kim did a video on the Falcon as well. I would expect it to weigh less because it's a 14mm camera and the Wasp is 19mm. I think the Falcon is a great camera. I have it on a 2.5in build.

Whats up with all that blur when moving fast or towards the sun? Looks like finger oils on the lense but it's only when flying with the sun in view or infront of the quad but not in view of the camera. That blurry thing is too distracting for me

Is it just me or has the compression algorithm issues with the wasp? The grass sometimes gets blurry and coms pack.(it flickers). This is not the case with the OG cam.

Yes! This was my first thought! I noticed right in the first footage there and I thought that it's probably a YT compression. But then the comparison made it clear and confirmed that it's this particular camera. Like, how can you even say they are identical? :) The grass on the wasp is just a flat gradient with almost zero details, while on the original camera it is pretty sharp and detailed. On nebula pro it is kind of in the middle (shadows are bad, mostly), but still pretty good. If it's really that bad in the goggles, then I'm afraid there's a high chance to miss some wires with a grass in the background or something like that. And if it's not, then I wonder what that is so that YT codec can't handle and why it is different on the other cameras. And just in case, I watched it in 4k, so should've been the best possible quality for this video.

It's definitely a compression algorithm issue. I've got the O3 air unit, nebula pro nano and I bought this unit without doing my research, and when flying over fields you get areas of the image which have less detail

I confirm @eliokreier522 @qm2105 and @MadfishFPV feedbacks about the grass. This cam tends to be unflyable low above a grass field. The more you are low and perpendicular to the field, the worst it is. The problem is way less above terrain, but the grass becomes all blocky blurred that you can't even guess your height above the grass. I made the same mistake and I'm now switching the camera to the Nebula Pro.

Funny thing that just today I did a test in the dark by using a flashlight on my 5 inch to see how it works out with the DJI Cam and the CADDX Polar Cam. The Caddx Polar wins by miles but still no comparison to the Caddx Ratel 2 that is absolutely magnificent in the dark. I want an even better cam then the polar to be able to fly at night.

Just curious, have you tried/tested taking the DVR off of the RunCam Split 4 4K FPV Camera with FOV 140° Low Latency, DC 5-20V Nano HD Recording 16:9/4:3 NTSC/PAL and adding it to the runcam falcon nano or other runcam cameras? Is that possible? Reason I ask is to use one camera for FPV and recording therefore saving weight. Yeah, I'm new to this so it may be a stupid question. I have not found any other DVR for onboard drone. Although one could use the GoPro Hero10 Black bones camera, it's still adding weight and reducing flight time

PS: as for the runcam, I'd definitely not buy it until it's the only option left. The existing alternatives are superior in every way and worth the extra 20 bucks or whatever. So I see no reason to get the inferior product for only a negligible discount, while the superior ones are still available. Makes no sense that I can see. By then, maybe the O3 air unit will be out and may possibly be better overall. Depending on the cost of course, and whatever ways DJI cripples the O3 air unit....

I feel like the fish eye is a bit too strong on Wasp in your video. I know one is 150 vs 155 degree fov but the edges seem really distorted during fast paced action, not worth that extra 5.

I'm curious about comparing the runcam wasp to the runcam falcon. My understanding is the wasp is 720p 120fps vs the falcon is 1080p 120fps. Got a RTF Beaver 5" for my first 5" kwad. From the very first flight, I've been experiencing "jello" about 50% of the time which has been super annoying. Everyone kept saying that something was loose but I checked the entire thing it was tight as bank vault. Eventually I gave it to my buddy who has been flying for 5 years, and his diagnosis was that the Nebula Pro camera was a defective unit.. that the sensor may be loose. So, I picked up a new camera from Pyrodrone and just finished installing it. I"ve only done one battery so far so it's still early, but so far it seems my issue is gone! Curious how common it is to get bad hardware from CaddX. Now I have to figure out who to talk to about getting the defective camera replaced

Very common. I bought Rattel, got defective lens (its internal lens loose, out of focus in certain angles). Then I bought a Flywoo cinerace20 came with polar nano, it was jello + IR filter didn't attach to anything. Both were solved by replacing the lens. The sensors seem to be OK. Edit for typo (not English native)

I haven't heard anything about that. I definitely used 50 Mbps in my testing. All my air units are already FCC so I don't have the ability to test the hack.

tl;dr I would take the Nebula Pro Nano over the Falcon Nano. Yes you can use them on a 5" but at that point, why not use a 19mm camera which will have larger lens larger sensor better image quality.

You have to update firmware to 0608 to use the Wasp.

MIPI is a data interface, but there is no assumption that every MIPI device that shares the interface will talk to one another. It's like assuming that anything with an Ethernet network would work together.

Thanks for the side-by-side comparison video. I'm surprised that you don't see a big difference in the Wasp vs the DJI and Caddx cams. It appears to me that the Wasp has a ton of digital artifacts and it smears the grass and any fine details. Not sure if you're on 25mbps or 50mbps, high-quality or low latency, focus mode on/off but I assume those are set the same on all of the cams. The poor image quality, plus the fact that it lacks image adjustments and does not have the advertised low-light performance doesn't justify a $20 price savings to me. I like runcam but I hope they do better next time.

The Wasp is the best DJI camera for Flying at Dusk and the best Caddx camera for the DJI goggles 2 as good as analog ,,, I found the Nebula pro needs the 120 fps for decent latency still now where as good as the 03 unit as far as latency and clarity with the Goggles 2 .. fly super fast and and very little latency is where the wasp shines constantly moving ,, The 03 air unit has the clearest image ,, but I prefer the view of a 1.8mm lens .... The 03 air unit is by far the clearest and best preforming with the Goggles 2 but stuck with one size which doesn't fit all drones ,, My conclusion is if you fly vista with the goggles 2 you want the wasp or 03 unit

Wasp looks worse, it was super easy to guess which cam is which. Granted I flown few DJI cams.

Not lying but i got all 3 camera choices right. I have one OG caddx cam and a couple nebula pros. I can tell the slight difference between them and the link is too sharpened for my taste.

You can use Runcam Link with v2 goggles and g2 goggles.
