I find this place absolutely fascinating! As a retired diesel/heavy equipment mechanic, I've always been fascinated by mechanical things, and how they work. Thanks again for sharing these videos, and also for the English subs so I can better understand what I'm seeing. Very cool indeed!

@@eggaeri At the turbine wicket gates before the water hits the runner ...how much bar pressure are we talking here?
@eggaeriАй бұрын
@@russellking9762 The pressure shaft has a drop height of approximately 500 meters, which corresponds to around 50 bar. Greetings from Switzerland.

That is some fantastic engineering. The pipework big and small is immaculate. What an honor to perform maintenance on such a machine.

Edgar with each video you show something not everyone will get to see and it draws me in more and more. I will say at 5:30 to 6:30 when you are inside the turbine, that scared me not going to lie, seeing the turbine vanes up close.. I should say within touching distance never thought I see that. please stay safe and can't wait for the next tour video

Super scary behind the dam bars...Edit: Thanks for the invalualble footage from inside (from the friggin IN-SIDE) a ball valve and the turbine intake. This one is almost as frightening as the Waterschloss Sarell video.

Thank you, I was happy to do that 👻😱. Greetings from switzerland.

@@HenkChinaski At the turbine intake wicket gates..how much bar pressure are we talking here?
@HenkChinaskiАй бұрын
@@russellking9762 I guess this is something @eggaeri can answer better as it' his vid and profession. I can only assume the hydrostatic pressure alone at the intake would be something around 100 PSI. But the force the wicket gates have to withstand will be much higher as a huge shitload of water is moving pretty quick towards them. But again: I did electrical / IT engineering and thus totally suck in mcehanics, especially fluid dynamics.

Awesome! Love these tours. What's the brown system shown at 2:48? Hydraulics that control the ball valve? And then what's the silver valving and tank on the wall next to it?
@admeichenhain Жыл бұрын
Hydraulic pump
@eggaeri Жыл бұрын
Exactly, the brown unit is to open the ball valve with hydraulic oil, the things on the wall belong to the water control to close the ball valve again with water pressure. Greetings from switzerland.

Love the red paint, I can hear a sort of "POWARRRRRR" echos :D I thought valves were driven by gearmotors, however everything is hydraulic, very interesting.
@eggaeri Жыл бұрын
Exactly, the large valves are mostly moved hydraulically. Greetings from switzerland.

Niemals so gesehen!

Ja, das sind wirklich runde, gebogene Hydraulikzylinder.

Fascinating! Thanks for posting this video, Edgar! What's behind the brown door at 1:45?
@eggaeri Жыл бұрын
Behind this door is the stairwell, this is the same door as at 3:20, they are massively built to hold back the water in the event of a plumbing failure in the ball valve room. Greetings from Switzerland.
