"As the Sims is _right now_ it's a complete cash gra-" *Me, a millenial who grew up with the first 3 games and all expacs pirated with copies for each of her family members to play:* It was ALWAYS a cash grab mechanic. There has never been a single moment since The Sims franchise began that the game was NOT used as a cash grab. They figured out the model worked quickly and they've never deviated... they've just gotten worse with how many extras they make and how basic the base game is. In point of fact, EA has ALWAYS used The Sims as a means of income generation. They will never actually change the model and will likely ALWAYS break The Sims games up in this fashion. The fact they are getting worse and more exorbitant in pricing is just a smart business move for them (it sucks for us, but hey, they don't care). They know people will buy the extras they put out. They know the volume of the DLCs/extra packs and the pricing makes it hard for new players, they know that its a detriment in some form, but because they get enough people buying to make massive bank, they do not care about the people who can't afford all the packs. They know, eventually, people will slowly buy them up on sales and things and they'll get their money from even those people too poor to pay out the 1k all at once for the 'whole game'. This would be why, until the recent game went F2P on steam, I literally just pirated all of The Sims content... And had since literally the first games original release years. I do, in fact, now have a legitimate Sims 4 and some of the expacks/DLCs, but only because my cousin got really into it and sent me some of the paid content. To date, the only thing I've paid EA for in the Sims franchise is the For Rent expack they released... because I really wanted apartments lmao. I could have just pirated the entire game and all released content, but its a pain and takes up so much more space I just didn't bother. I can always just play my fully loaded and modded sims 3 :'D

I'm excited about the farming aspect of Fantasy life. My favorite part of Animal Crossing: New Horizons was the ability to have a farm. I hope this includes raising animals and growing things for alchemy. The blacksmith and carpenter lives were centered around the woodcutter and mining lives, there was very little that you had to buy if you didn't want to spend too much money. Meanwhile, with the Alchemy, Tailor, and cook lives, if you want to get the quests done efficiently, you needed to buy most of the necessary materials. At that point, you might as well just buy whatever you need. Thus, I never mastered those lives until I was done with the game. Farming could make it a little more worthwhile to complete those lives, if done properly.

I have been playing Bloomtown A Different Story and I am definitely loving it so far. Also it is a bit of a bummer that Fantasy Life got delayed,but the biggest bummer of them all is my most anticipated game not coming till 2026, the game I been going on and on about, Deca Police. Yet,I am very much looking forward to Rune Factory next year.

First impression last the longest, so I'd much rather wait for a game to come out later if it's going to be better than if it came out early. I very rarely go back to a game that was terrible when I first played it, unless a lot of people talk about it after patches and updates. I really need to get a sit/stand desk. Sadly, I have very little room so I have yet to find one small enough to fit my space. But I need to get back to looking. I already have back and neck pain. I'm really looking forward to getting Moonstone Island. I've been waiting too for all the updates to get in so I can experience it all in one go. Date Everything looks hilarious and so much fun! I will probably get it when it goes on sale. I've lost some interest in Tales of the Shire. The art style turns me off too. And the focus being on cooking isn't my favorite thing. So I'll be waiting for reviews to see if its a game for me. I'm still looking forward to Fantasy Life. I'm fine with the delays. Sure, it's disappointing, but I'd much rather have a complete, good game that comes out later. Since you play RPGs, I wanted to let you know about an announcement that has me over the moon. Lunar Remastered Collection was just announced for Spring 2025. Lunar Silver Star Story is my all-time favorite video game! I played it on the PS1 when I was younger. It was one of the earliest JRPGs that I remember having voice acting, cut scenes, and fantastic music. It has strong characters and a moving story. I've been wanting to replay it for so long! There was a PSP remake, but they didn't have the rights to the music & voices, so that had to be redone and it wasn't as good. This remastered collection seems to have the original music, at least from the trailer. I hope it has the original voices too. Anyway, check it out. By today's standards, some of the game could be considered cozy, with the characters and story.

I will definitely check out Lunar!

I remember back in the day getting a gaming magazine giving us an update on new games and release dates and then we waited and waited and waited until the game came out without any information in between in some cases you would get a list of new games for the year but TBA next to the dates and people would be happy to wait until a game actually come out . The internet has changed a lot of things but I miss the choice of great gaming magazines

0:36 That sounds like something every team should aspire to. Getting the best experience first time playing rather than playing a mess is the best business practice to have for growing reputation as caring about the product and the customer experience. It's on my wishlist. Sad about Fantasy Life i delay, but again better getting a great experience first time with fewer complications than something rushed out the door. Plenty of games already that could be played in the mean time. Demos are nice for a sneak peek, and prefer those than early access. Go Go Town is on my wishlist too. Waiting for the complete game so I can enjoy it all. Would have paid more attention to the My Sims if it included all of the My Sims games not just a select few. I generally dislike release date mentions because companies don't hold true to them. They guess a date, and make that deadline neigh impossible for themselves, causing all kinds of rush within their practice. I feel games should be released when they are done. Deadlines are nice, but not to be mentioned to public unless it is guaranteed. I much prefer progress reports.

awesome video. i believe that for fantasy life they are waiting the switch sucessor to be out. really i think they tried to make it for the switch but it didnt work. i'm not really a fan of early access or announcing a game to soon. these delays are too much and the hype for the game is fading away. about the sims 4 its more like 2000dollars for the all the stuff.
@FN-1969Ай бұрын
It’s more than likely Nintendo’s fault for these games being delayed. Because Nintendo has been silent on announcing its successor of the switch. Because of their silence I wonder also if Nintendo is seeing how successful pc handhelds are they’ve “delayed” the successor as well themselves. Like you mentioned it’s better not to say anything than to announce something only to delay it because it needs to be improved. I’ve traded my Switch (last year) for the Steamdeck and haven’t been more pleased. The performance alone makes it worth it.

Alas, release dates are set, not by the devs, but by marketing. Look at Cyberpunk. It was pushed back several times, and it still released as toilet paper. As a (retired) developer, I can assure you the devs never want to annouce/release something before it's ready. And pushing the deadline back repeatedly is very hard on the devs. Stress levels are astronomical.

I prefer waiting than get loads of UPD8.
@GaussIonАй бұрын
Ideally games being delayed should result in a more polished game. The immediate tangible benefit is that it frees up time to review The Game.
@mw9448Ай бұрын
I'd rather wait a little longer and have a good game from day 1. Too often a game releases rough and even though they fix it in later patches it's not re-reviewed and people miss out on a good game because they never come back. I AM more forgiving of an indie that is a bit rougher around the edges though.
@d-padqueen1103Ай бұрын
To be fair, a new "sims" gen would be really bad when there's still game breaking bugs existing in 4... (Don't start a "scenario" without creating a "throwaway" file first, because that can cause the file you played for weeks on end to be merged into the game as an NPC, losing all your progress)

Did core keeper finally get a release date btw? That s the game i m the most excited about, w fantasy life, but i dont mind waiting ,like i said. Sometimes w games that i know will have UPD8 , i wait till these are out too, and THEN i start playing. Bc if there s an early patch, it s 4 a good reason, and i d rather wait than ruin my 1rst experience w a game, bc i absolutely love the feeling of starting a new game, especially one i ve been waiting 4 for a while, and if its clunky, it ruins my experience.🤷🏼♀️ so i m fine w the wait. Even for s.o who only got a 3ds and a switch, i say we had so many good games this september, that we can wait a little more , especially if it means better quality game in the end. (imo)

15:13 Of course. Why stop making the game in tiny fragments if people are too irresponisble with their purchasing? It's a great income. Complaints don't matter so much if the money contunes pouring in. DLC: the game. It will happen eventually that they will bring about Sims 5. 15:18 You don't have to buy any of it. You are choosing to pay into the monetization method. I've never touched the Sims4 since I have the Sims3. It's sad they didn't fix all the issues Sims3 had before producing an even more monetized sequel/replacement. Funny thing, I stopped buying Electronic Arts games years ago. They've not been making anything worthwhile, and I've not had issues finding better entertainment elsewhere. Same could be said for Ubisoft, Rockstar Games, Blizzard... The only people worth paying money to for products are those who make the products I want, and that doesn't mean I am going to buy everything they ever make. I feel that is very wasteful. It's simple supply and demand. If they've made what I want, I'll pay at reasonable price.

Money speaks louder than words for sure (so buying something and giving companies profit lets them know of they are doing something right or wrong)
@Kindlesmith70Ай бұрын
@@MissBubbles Basically yes. Short and sweet. In time games will come at discounts and in package deals. There isn't really a need to get it asap unless you happen to work a job as some form of news provider (like a reviewer).

I would rather games get released later. After so many disappointments, I have a few trust issues with some of these hasty, scammy developers. Unfortunately, even for the good devs, I am still the type to wait 3-6 weeks before buying any game. I really thing Early Access is the worst, best thing to come out of Steam.
