Yes! The series will continue in the near future. Probably in a month or so. I've got so much on my plate right now. We will look at the final big box expansion I own, then a bunch of the small box expansions, before moving on to Runebound 3rd edition. Stay tuned for more Runebound coverage!

Same. I'm not interested in 2, would like 3e if I could find one complete with all expansions, but if they did a 4e I'd buy it all. I did pick up a 3e Core game for only $30, but gave it to my daughter as a present

Looking forward to 3rd editions vid. One of my favorite boardgames. Watching these has made me want to pull it back out. Al-Kalim was prob my favorite of 2e's expansions. How I play 2e (and 3e) is connect all the cards and events together in one cohesive storyline and I always roll a Rory's Story cube at each location using that cube to help tell the story. Sometimes I'll leave the story cube on that location that way if I ever go back there I can remember what was there and perhaps build off that with a second encounter. One time slightly GMing 2e, we roleplayed just 1 green location turning it into a story that lasted a good 20 minutes before moving on. For 3e I've always liked how the combat when using your imagination can feel very cenemic visualizing it blow by blow in the location you are at. I've played with using 3e as a whole as a solo rpg system. I've never 100% rolled out little kinks when trying to use it as a full fledged rpg but still have had fun doing it whenever I did and it is a concept I always want to come back to. I even went as far as buying wooden cubes off Amazon and taking all the Unbound Monster tokens and with markers creating six dice sets of the four monster types (Green, purple, brown, Red) for the very purpose of trying to fight multiple monsters at once- I think I tried this using the first episode of D&D Phandelvers. I know for use I did for the Goblin Ambush. Can't remember if I took the concept into the caves, but I know another time I tried it for level 1 of Castle & Crusades Adventure. Again, never devoted a lot of time to iron out how to do it but still the ideas are still there in the system. Heck, the same is true with 2e. Especially if going for a very narrative story based rpg where you want the battles to go by quickly. I know I've talked with the creator of Micro RPG in the past about this, but I even see inspiration from 2e's fighting mechanics grafted into that system, too.

Thank you for another great overview, Daniel. It is only natural and themaic that the desert will be a harsh and tough place to deal with and to deal within. There's one thing that I'm not sure of... It seems like old-FFG made all of those expansions because of the game's major success. On the other hand, how major was that success? In my head... in my imagination... Runebound was a success only for a specific audience/community, And all of those expansions are a labor of love, a gesture from the publisher and the creators to the community, And the economic aspect wasn't at the highest priority. Obviously, it is probably a wrong estimate, but... while I really don't know what happened behind the scenes, And while it was long before I entered the hobby - I find the amount of content for this game unproportional with how things ended up, and with shutting this universe down.

Thanks for the retrospectives. Runebound 2e was definitely a mainstay of my solo gaming when it was new. These videos are very nice as a broad overview of what's in the box and it's nice to hear your thoughts on certain mechanics and how you view them and the changes or different features. One thing I'd definitely like to see more of is when you talk about what happened during your play session. Here you touch on it very briefly with which character you played and the ally who joined up, but that was pretty much it for the scant details. I realize such things might be out of scope for this particular series, but I just wanted to give a voice to my thoughts. I found your channel via your mork borg videos where you went through the steps of playing and I would very much like to see more content in that vein.

Thanks! Yeah, that’s just not the point of this particular series. :). But that can be found in others for sure! This series is all about what’s in the box, the art, the general feel, and things I like and don’t like about each.

This looks like the best expansion adventure from what i see from your videos - there is more story and questing threads going on to make it more engaging - but i admit i have not played them

I'm a viewer who likes these deep dives. I don't remember if I did, but I know if I saw the poll I voted YES on stuff like this. That said, I'm also a "bad" viewer. I'm now watching these. Not when they were new. Not when you were probably most looking at the metrics (and experiencing the effects of said, apparently poor metrics). I take on and off seasons being into stuff. Whether it's a youtube channel or specific aspect of my more involved hobbies. Fun and healthy for me. Less good for the content machine that is youtube, and you making a partial living off of it. Great video series thus far and thanks for making these!

In the 1st episode it was especially nice to learn about the fan made expansions you use. Unfortunately those are not pnp available. This series may in the future help me to decide which expansion to add first, but before that have to try the base game one day. I wish the maps in Runebound 2nd edition were a little bit modern/prettier.
@TheDungeonDive

The maps are definitely not the best looking, especially when compared to the beautiful map in 3e.

Daniel, this is the only channel that does regular, quality, in-depth coverage on older games like these. Totally in for the ride. I’m wondering why FFG discontinued Runebound but continued printing Erdrich Horror. Was 3rd edition so poorly received that it killed the series?

I had really wanted this expansion after the bought the main game used on eBay …and for a couple weeks I kept checking noble knights site since they had a copy for around 100$ and the day I finally went to purchase it it wasn’t there 😆😒 …I’ve been looking for other games with the same simplicity but the only ones I came across that would be anything close to the mapping etc. would be mage knight and hexplore it and one other can’t remember the name ..but I really like the open map I would just like a little more choices and to where I don’t have to complete the main objective by a certain time
