I love love love Runebound 3rd edition, best adventure game I played. That being said I never bothered with any of the expansions. They didn't seem to bring anything new to the table. But finally seeing a well done co-op expansion, has gotten me to finally purchase my first runebound expansion.

That letter/package idea is freaking awesome! Such a cool, thematic way to handle that aspect.

thanks for that note (6:50) about the limited number of types of asset and skill cards. Not covered in the Learn to Play or Unbreakable Bonds rules, and I didn't catch it in my skim of the Rules Reference.

Fantastic solo game!! In my opinion, only Mage Knight beats it for Solo Fantasy Adventuring on a board but this plays faster and is easier to set up.

Rahdo, do you prefer to play Runebound 3rd with expansions or Runebound 2nd with expansions?
@rahdo6 жыл бұрын
with this co-op expansion, runebound 3rd. without, runebound 2nd :)

I don't like the trade mechanism. I much prefer open negotiation. It's more engaging.

Quite surprised so many table top games are still being made

This seems like glowing praise considering how negatively you reviewed the base game. I always felt like you were a bit harsh on that one, but the praise for this seems comparatively high. Was it really the expansion that made this a "fantastic" experience or maybe you approached it with a bit more objective eyes? I have a copy of this already but haven't gotten it to the table yet, but it seems like it had to be more than just the contents of the expansion to improve your opinion of this so much. Just my opinion.

i didn't review the base game negatively. i sung a lot of it's praises (presentation, brilliant skills system, runes replacing dice), said it was a well designed followup, but that i found it personally disappointing because it changed some of the things i loved most about 2nd edition. i'm still disappointed (as i said in the updated video here) in the simplification of the terrain dice, for example. i'm still less than pleased about the "world levels up alongside the player". etc. but the co-op implementation is so fantastic, i'm willing to put aside my disdain for the nerfing of what i enjoyed so much in 2nd edition, because those losses are beingg replaced by something very cool

"Nerfed" is exactly the word I was looking for when comparing Wallace's 2e system against Litzsinger's 3e lukewarm game. I am not a co-op gamer so that's of no interest to me. Is the new solo system good enough to change my mind as 2e is a fun solo experience.
