My tip for 2019 is to not focus on the negativity surrounding RS. RS3 specifically gets a lot of hate, some things are justified, others not so much, and it can be very demoralizing if you let it consume you. Remain positive and enjoy the gains :)

My first memory was a “friendly”, experienced player who took me to an upstairs room in Lumbridge. She (more likely an old hairy man) told me to start doing “sexy talk”. I was 12 years old!!!

My very first time logging into runescape was in 2004. I immediately was greeted by a player named Viper2000. He ran me all over the free 2 play area, and mentored me until I could wear rune. He never asked for any payment, and never made me feel like I was a nuisance. He taught me everything he could. As a congratulations present for beating dragon slayer, he gave me a full set of zamorak plate. This was an incredibly rare set back in the day, especially to a noob like me. He logged off a few days later and never returned.. I still have him added on all my accounts 15 years later, just in case he logs in on some off-chance. :(

Maybe he was banned. This happend to so many of my rs buddies who also helped me when I was a noob back then. They disappeared. But back then people could get perm banned easier for more things than now a days. There was really helpful people back in the days. Now they would say "xp waste" 😂.

my best Runescape memory, meeting becoming friends with this girl from India who was like 10 years older than me. then she introduced me to all her friends, and we became pen-pals, then constantly chatting on Messenger, and now we regular chat on WhatsApp. 14 years after we first met, we are still friends (and she even admitted she has a crush on me) all thanks to Runescape its truly magical

My first RuneScape memory is of Tutorial Island. I didn't speak much English back then so it was really challenging to sort everything out without really getting what the texts meant. It was however super cool still, man. I was so excited with the look and feel of RuneScape.. The harsh animations, the simple but beautiful songs.. That atmosphere still resonates so much to me.

My first memory that I could not forget, even though I have not played the game in years, is that one Quest that you can do as a f2p player, Hunting Down those horrible red Imps for stones they had stolen. This quests was just so very frustrating because I never attacked them before and they seemed low enough level to kill but they can vanish away!! I spent hours looking for them and trying to kill them but mostly failing to do so. Back then there was no GE and I had to share the one and only computer in the house with my brothers who also enjoyed playing the game.

My first memory was watching my older sister play, this was in about 2008 when I was only 7 years ago, but my sister was around 16. I remember watching her fish around lumbridge, and doing some early level quests and killing some goblins here and there. Her favourite weapon was the bow. Seeing her play got me interested in the game, and some people at school were talking about the game here and there. I stopped playing for years but my older sister is in America now, and I just got back into Runescape, I love how far the game has come and it brings back many fond memories.

first runescape memory which was the introduction of GE. i was trying to pawn lobbies in falador the old fashioned way (spamming wavy letters} and someone told me about the update. so, in good form i ran to GE, and not knowing what it was, i started spamming the chat at GE lol. The first memory I recall from the early days of Runescape was when I wandered away from Lumbridge into Varrock back in 07. It was bustling with people from the western and eastern banks to the people at town square in front of the castle (which is where eventually I met my first group of online friends in RS). I’d socialize everyday with them and trained some skills with em when we got bored standing around. Wish we could go back to those days sometimes :(

I was in middle school and my big brother was in highschool, every time school was over and i came home i would watch him play runescape for hours. I remember killing giant rats and goblins in lumbridge. We used to get drops and be so excited when a goblin dropped a sling. We were talking to each other with the phone of our parents... we were psyched when we reached woodcutting 60 and thought we are going to be rich with selling yew logs. That was a great time!

My fondest memory was back in the OG runescape. I was a noob and exploring firstly...and had been running around near the wilderness line near varrock and some guy was out standing in a very strange area. Noticed him log out shortly after after seeing his armor on him disappear. After a few moments there was armor appearing on the ground and I was so surprised by it I grabbed it. I then seen a guy walking toward me and he yelled at me in colored chat "HEY" and I was so startled. He told me what he was doing and I generally had no idea about drop trading before this point. Ended up giving his gear back to him but it was pretty cool learning something like that so early on when I didn't have any friends that played yet.

My first runescape memory was back in like 2005 or 2006, my grandmother took me to the library to rent some VHS videos. I saw kids playing runescape and loved it. My grandma helped me make a account and I named my character after a gundam 003gun. Good times.

My earliest memory of Runescape was when I was like 11 in 2010 and was introduced to the game by a friend at school, but I had no idea how to get new stuff and so I called my friends house endlessly so he could tell me how to get something cool and told me step by step how to get the training sword or whatever the equivalent level 1 sword from the combat guides was at the time. I felt like I could take anything from there on.

My first Runescape memory was when I was in Year 5 in school. I didn’t have a computer or anything but all my friends in school were playing this game they found on miniclip. (They often found and played various games from miniclip and would talk about it in school). I was embarrassed I didn’t have a computer or internet so couldn’t play with everyone and felt left out. One of my friends knew this and invited me to her house to use the computer. I remember doing the tutorial with her help and lighting fires in lumbridge. I’d go to her house a few times a week to mess around on Runescape. I eventually got a computer when I was in high school and the first thing I did was start playing Runescape.

Ayy I don't comment much, but probably my oldest memory of the game was starting out back in 2009, towards the end i think, i dont recall exactly. Its about the time when they had the Dragon in the cellar as the tutorial, and I remember going holy crap about the thought of actually having a game where you could do logical stuff like using oil on rags and then setting it on fire to bring down stuff on a dragon to kill it. The concept immediately made me fall in love with the game. To a point where, I had my mom come with me going around the neighbour hood to see if anyone had a credit card that actually worked online to pay for mems (So i could just pay them back in cash), as neither me, nor my mom had a credit card back then. Lol, tbf, the only reason my mom, and I even got a credit card eventually was so we could pay for runescape membership without relying on other people. Now that I think back, thats one of the most adorable things my mom's done for me. Thanks ma ^^

My first memories of rs were back during the summers of my preteens and early teens playing when my parens would drop me off at a Boys and Girls club so they could go to work. We played on super old machines in the computer lab and we played so aimlessly it was insanely fun. We would sometimes take turns playing on the same characters and let eachother take turns doing quests and killing monsters. It was such a fun carefree time of my life and now playing rs3 brings me back to those great times.

I remember mining tin and copper ore in the falador mines, walking all the way to the furnace, smelting my bronze bars, walking all the way back down to the mining area to the anvils, making the best armor I could, walking back up to the bank and finally back down to the mines to restart the process. This was back in late 07/early 08, I have been playing on and off since then and now I am 118 levels from max :D

I was talking to some randoms while killing lesser demons in Karamja about my grandpa who had just died. I was about twelve years old and it was a confusing and sad time for me Luckily for me a number of very nice and insightful people were killing the demons with me and offered me some much needed comfort. And then got lost, there's a small branch in the path just west of varrock west bank (one continued onto g.e. and the other continues for like 10 steps into a flower garden). At the time I was sporting a fierce mithril mace and full black armor. My teacher caught me and took control of my computer from his desk and took my character towards the wilderness and fought bears north of Falador. Little did he know, if he had crossed into the wilderness he could have gotten my character pked. Instead he just killed a few bears then logged me out.

My oldest RS memory is logging into Runescape after Tutorial Island to someone following me saying a/s/l constantly I told him my name was Maria and he asked me to be his RS gf, after laughing for about 10mins and not knowing what the hell I was doing in the game I told him ok and he kindly helped me out a lot and introduced me to questing. Shockingly, after an 8 yr break I re-logged into my acct and found him still on my friends list where he recently came back to the game as well! My first memory - around 2003, way back in RS1 (classic). Just installed the game (EDIT: made an account*), and walked around, before there were maps, and all that. And I kept walking between Lumbridge cows field near Al-Kharrid gate, and the one north of Lumbridge near the mill. And I kept thinking that "god damn, I keep coming to the same field", completely and totally lost. Eventually I just started fighting some goblin or something just to get killed and respawn back in Lumbridge. I walk across the bridge - damn cows again. :D

Some extra info for the last tip: if you use the spellbook swap spell, you can do this everywhere. Bring some (large) rune pouches and it won't even cost you that much inventory space.

For the grace of the elves, don't use the gnome stronghold for the tree teleports. You can just use the luck of the dwarves or the ring of fortune to teleport to grand exchange. (there is to the north east).

One of my favorite RuneScape memories was when I was still a noob and random events were still a thing. I was fishing shrimp and dropping them under me. The insect swarm random appeared and started damaging me and I thought it was the shrimp that I had dropped so I started picking up the shrimp and died to the insect swarm.

My first Runescape memory was back in about 2004 I wanna say(I have the 15year vet cape if I remember its in my bank id have to look). I was in middle school. I've always been a huge fantasy, adventure, and gaming nerd. I Used to just play whatever I could find but mostly Pokémon, Fire Emblem, and AdventureQuest. I was sitting at car line waiting for my mom to pick me up when I heard the more popular boys talking about armors and dragons and goblins and other stuff and instantly my ears perked up. I asked them what they were talking about which they told me "Runescape" they told me act like im typing in "run escape" but as one word, I asked a little about it and told them id make a character and add them - That night I went home popped open my moms laptop that I mostly used cause she was barely on it and google searched for the game. I remember the website almost feeling surely like it wasn't an actual game and hesitate for a second lmao. I clicked the play button and it loaded up the starting log-in screen. I still remember the first time that blissful login music hit me before I loaded to tutorial island under the oh so cringe worthy name of "B1ack Kn1ght"(my favorite FE character of course - I have it changed now though lmao).

If you're using the grace of the elves for clues you want it set to Zanaris and overgrown idols. They are the closest thing to a gnome glider and you can get to a spirit tree by using the crystal teleport seed to crwys clan, or by using the RoW/LotD to go to the GE. You'll be using the glider way more than the spirit trees so it's worth switching those up.

I WAS KILLED BY AN IMP! This was just after I started playing, and just after I found a pair of leather chaps (range armour) and I picked a fight with a goblin. My bronze sword made a corpse out of him, but my chef's hat and chaps were not a lot of armour, so he beat the crap out of me. Then I saw a lvl 3 imp. I snorted. Level 3? I can beat THAT. I hadn't thought about having being beaten up by the gobbo. I almost killed the imp, but... no. My first death. As my character fell to his knees and dropped dead, I just knew I had lost my stuff and all the skills I had worked so hard to get to level ten. I had no idea I would respawn. After that I was a lot more bold about fighting or leaving Lumby. I hadn't left Lumby because I thought I'd get attacked right off like in Final Fantasy 7 when you went out of town. Oh, by the way, ever since then, for almost 11 years now, i have killed every imp I see as revenge. TL;DR... I picked a fight when I was beat up and had my first (and probably most embarrassing) death.

First Runescape memory (maybe 2009-2010): In a Skype call with my mate who's also playing and he's bragging about how he made 100k from the doubling money scam. I hopped on an alt account secretly and met up with him and anonymously said "if you show me you can be trusted with this 500k then I'll do it with 20m next." I traded him the 500k, got 1m back, logged out, and spent a good 10 minutes laughing at him.

My oldest memory was a group of friends and I traveling into the wilderness (as like lv 40 noobs) and secretly forming alliances and started attacking each other. There were many betrayals but I was able to kill one of my friends using my strongest spell, fire bolt. Glad to see you back on KZbin!

My brother played rs a month or so prior to me starting and he said that Lumbridge was the home base sort of a town. My first rs memory was making notes of all of the landmarks of Lumby so that I could always find my way back. It was a few days before I realised there was a map...

My first runescape memory is when I was walking around varrock on a regular world, some dude started following me saying he was about to kill me. He started counting down from 3 and when he hit 1 I logged out, afraid for my life. Good times.

Back when I first started, I found an iron 2h in the Lumbridge general store. I sold everything to get my hands on it since I found it so cool. I died at goblins just across the river, but since I didn't understand the death mechanic, I thought I just lost it all and had to grind for another.

My first memory of runescape was when I first started playing in 2007 I was younger and didn’t know how to work the camera angles. So in varrock there is a house if you enter you have to move the camera angle to get out. I didn’t know that so my character sat there for a long time. I came back to Runeacape when I was older (maybe like 2 years) logged in to him sitting at the same spot. Moves the camera and I was out.

My first runescape memory was seeing my brother die in the karamja volcano with full steal. He was so angry that I wanted to see what that game was. So back in 2006 when I was only 7 I started my own account, i still remember my first drop from the Women in the falador garden, a bronze mid helm. I felt like a God

I have two memories I want to share: Edit: I realized I have an even earlier memory, but not much detail. My friend told me about runescape and we both made our first accounts at the public library and started racing through tutorial island. I remember being amazed that he had already reached the rats but that's about all I recall. My first and earliest memory was spawning in front of lumbridge castle after tutorial island and seeing these two players in melee armor (I remember one was wearing full black armor) killing the "men" npcs in the area, I got scared thinking they could kill me next and I ran out of the area. I don't remember where I ran off to or what happened next though. My fondest memory is completing the gameshow random event for the first time, and seeing the 1k coins prize as an option. I was a really dumb kid who couldn't make money for shit somehow (I still don't know how I was always so broke all the time thinking back on it), so I totally freaked out when I saw it. I celebrated with my brother in what I believe was barbarian village (it looked different back then) by drinking as much beer as we could afford. I don't know where we got the beer but we idiotically spent most of the 1k I had just earned on it and ended up being close to broke again.
