this was the easiest experience i have ever had with putting together miniatures. it literally took me half and hour to put the entire box together. i was like OMG why cant every miniature game be this easy...

Hey Sam, surprised to hear you had a hard time putting the minis together. I found that each 'group' of units came in its own separate bag so was easy to keep track of what went with what. I do agree with you that the minis are the same quality as those of Imperial Assault, but that is not a bad thing necessarily! Both are of great quality. I guess your bigger gripe was that there were not of single mold, which I understand, and I believe it had to do with all those long spears that the smaller minis had. I can easiliy imagine those coming broken after shipping if they were single mold. Still I think you will agree that it beats gluing Warhammer minis! :) Looking forward to a Battling Brush video in the near future! ;)

Exactly. Work one bag at a time. Worked splendid.

yeah they come pre-sorted so I don´t see the problem at all.

Well, first off, the copy I got was a demo copy that the FFG guys gave us at The Gathering of Friends, and there was no grouping of model parts in bags at all. It took me a good hour or so to divide everything back up, making sure that the right shaped pegs were matched with the right shaped holes, and I got everything pieced back together and in the right trays in about another half-hour or so, and then I couldn't find anyone to play the game with at The Gathering. So, I put everything gingerly back into the box, packed as well as I could with all those bags the pieces came in, and when I got home, everything was just a mess in the box again. But all that aside, the actual putting together of the smaller rank and file minis was MUCH more difficult and convoluted than push-fit models should have been in the first place. And that goes beyond any logical reasoning I could muster on why they didn't have these models be single mold, anyway! FFG is one of the leaders in single mold minis for board games right now...why not in RuneWars? It doesn't make sense to me at all.

Sam Healey i bet the reason they didnt do one mold was for the future units. change the weapon and srandard skelton body, bam you got a new unit to sell.

Sub assemblies aren't to paint areas that will go unseen - it's to give easier access to all areas, particularly those that would have otherwise been hard to get to once fully assembled.

My Descent 2.0 models were not single molds, they just came pre-assembled from the factory.

A couple of years ago I would have been all over this game as someone who loves miniature wargaming as well as the Runebound universe(Terrinoth). However, when FFG went with the price increases and online price fixing a couple of years ago...they lost me.

I think going non single mold was because they wanted people to have the option to feel like they can customize their miniatures if they want.
@charlesfox44497 жыл бұрын
masteryoda1981 also, by doing multi part, they can scuplt a new arm and weapon, and bam they have a new unit they can sell without having to redo the body.

Sam, assuming you'll be painting these, do you expect to find painting it easier after the parts are assembled, as you did, or, having seen the way they assemble, think it might be easier to paint the parts before assembling? I realize every model is different, and these seem to be assemble without too many issues, and these are obviously tabletop gaming models, not showpiece models you'd leave on the shelf. Just curious. Keep up the modeling tips! I suppose I should watch the video completely before asking questions... you answered my question neatly near the end. Thanks again

Hi Sam, have you ever/would you ever consider doing some painting guides for different miniatures? Im looking to get back into miniature gaming again (DC universe now and Fallout later this year) but I have little experience with painting and would rather watch videos from someone whose opinion I trust and value.

I found the mini's really disappointing and the round part of the tray not fiting well. game was ok but sadly i found it overall too cheap and ended there regreting my investissement

if you thought any of thus snap fit modeks were fiddly, i hate to see what you we ould say with advanced models that are not snap fit

Sam builds Warhammer models and things like Shadow of Brimstone so I think he knows the hobby very well. I think he was saying that they aren't as smoothly fitted as suggested by FFG...
@warpaint93857 жыл бұрын
I'm staying away from this because of the cost involved. The base game is expensive, the add ons are expensive. No way I'm going to buy a box that has a meager eight minis or so for a ridiculous high price. Sorry FFG I'd rather purchase a box of historical minis with 36 to 50 minis for the same price.

In future, can you please mute the music while you are talking? It's great for the time lapse parts, but quite annoying to listen while you speak.
@dustbustus277 жыл бұрын
Yes. This please. I watch the video purely to hear Sam's opinion. The music felt awkward. The minis are placed in matching bags to make it easy to build. If you cut all your Blood Bowl figures off sprue and mix them together you have the same issue... so the points for me concerning frustration in press fits fell a little flat. All in all its always great to hear Sam speak at length. I eagerly away his thoughts on the game but I am glad to hear he is taking his time processing the game and not rushing to the final review. Long live Dice Tower :-)
