Runner's World has amended this story with wrong information. It states that the young mountain lion was in the 25-30 lb range. That was AFTER it had been partially eaten by scavengers. The official necropsy report stated that it was a 4-5 month old lion, about 40 lbs. That's not inconsiderable, if you consider it also had teeth and claws. Travis Kauffman himself, while talking to the press (only a short clip is shown here) said that he didn't think it was full grown; he guessed it weighed about 50 lbs. But that's why he was afraid another lion -- i.e., the mother -- might show up.

@SToXC_.Ай бұрын
@@mametoure1090 its not about speed, you dont need to outrun them, and also, wild animals are way way more "coward" than us, they dont have doctors, if they somehow understand "its not an easy kill", they just run away, its not worth risking getting injured. this is why if you just do a good front kick in their face they might get hurt before touching you and think you are stronger than them so they just run away. mind you, i am talking about animals in the same weight class as humans, of course you can't do ANYTHING to a tiger or something like that, a full power kick of the average human (unless maybe you are some actual athlete) in the face of a tiger is probably like a toddler slapping a man. But a mountain lion? their skulls and jaw is thinner, they have less muscle mass, they will definitely feel it, the nose and shit is sensitive do you still have ZERO chance to barehand K.O an adult MT. Lion? YES, ofc, 70kg of pure Athletic muscles, you stand no chance in an actual fight. and that's why your best bet is scaring him away with a face kick, that's pretty much the only thing you can try if a mountain lion decides you are his meal, trying to close distance with any other body part that isn't a heavy hiking boot means it ll just get ripped apart
