My husband and I would play this song, every Friday night before we went out to our favorite beach bar. He died this week. The day after, I was standing in line at the Target pharmacy, waiting to pick up a prescription.This song came on. I don't remember ever hearing music in Target before. I think this was his way of contacting me. We were married 58 years.

I would say unknown. Band members whose bands name begin with the name of the band leader rarely get much notice except by hard core fans. Joan Jett and name a few of the black hearts. In a few cases like Bonjovi, people knew Richie but that's the exception. Many people never really noticed the difference when Petty made solo albums. Some did but most people can't point to which songs came from them Campbell is a great guitarist but Tom Petty was the name people said when they talked about the music. No one ever said I got tickets to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. They said they has tickets to see Petty, and who was on stage with him was an after thought. That changed a little over the years, but no even though it's an overused description on KZbin he probably is under rated or unrecognized by average fans.

Very nice comment! I've watched about everything about Tom Petty-- I think he was a pretty "good guy", but also an asshole/perfectionist -- like me, and thank goodness he was! ;) See the clip of Tom defending Roger McGuin -- and the album price was $8 dammit! ;)

Back in the early 80's I was a long haired TV/Stereo bench tech in Florida. There was a new TV out and the manufacturer offered a Free training school on repairing it. I met Mike Campbell's father there he was a TV repairman lol. He was so proud of Mike. He sidled up to me and asked if I had every heard of Tom petty and I said hell yeah he's great. He says "Mike Campbells my son" !!! At the time it was pretty cool. On and on he goes. Hey Mike your dad was really proud of you!

@acm13505 жыл бұрын
Why do you say that about Mike? Just because he is not a household name like Clapton, Page or Hendrix? Mike is not underrated at all. He is an amazing guitarist. Anyone can hear that.

A C M to say a guitarist is underrated is actually a compliment, there are many in this category. Mike is one of them and he’s fantastic (a guitar player myself) His work is amazing the way he works this solo into this song-just perfect 👌
