I arrived in Germany in 1980 as a young soldier with the peculiar animosity of the British towards the country, I left in 1988 having fallen in love with Germany and its people. Your country has been through unimaginable things that no one should have to suffer and you emerged from those dark times, in my opinion, to become one of the most admirable nations in the world. Thank you for being who and what you are Germany.

Thank you. We left Berlin on the 9th of September 1989. Our 2 children were born in Berlin. This was so important and amazing to share with them. Thank you.

I lived in West Germany when the wall came down, and even though I was a young child, I will never forget how that felt. I absolutely loved this documentary, it makes me want to return to Germany!

I loved this. I'm 65 in 10 days and the Wall was here for more than half of my life thus far. I can remember Kennedy in Berlin, reports of people being killed trying to cross and finally it's fall. Beautiful job. Thank you all.

What a great film, well done to you. I spent a few months cross country skiing in West Germany in 1987 and we skied near to the border through the trees while off route a few times and you could see the East German soldiers patrolling and training their guns on us. For young 17 year old British soldier that was exciting! I tell my daughters about it and they can’t believe that Europe was like that! Luckily not any my more. These films are important to show how far we have come so we can embrace today.

Excellent film. A beautiful way to celebrate the fall of this wall. It makes me desperately sad all over again for Brexit. in the UK populism build on resentment, lies and fear has made us, now the majority of us, loose our identity as Europeans. Agree that democracy is something we have to keep fighting for - but you can win - look at the fall of Trump ✊
