In this video we will be exploring how to run an motor that was salvaged from a broken hoverboard. The motor will be run using an Arduino uno. The video mostly focuses on the wiring and just getting the motor to run.

Hey, awesome video but just curious why use the PWM jumper way vs using the direction break stop? can you not control the speed with the direction?

Hi, thank you for that video, why didn't you use the green input screws? 0-5v for example for speed ? I have a similar board and i use the voltage to control it

I want to drive two of these motors, still attached to the Hoverboard frame, with an Arduino board placed somewhere in between them. That's still a fairly large distance for the PWM wire. Did you encounter any issues with signal quality?

You will need a dual motor controller. Its easier to just buy 2 controllers

Will it run if you unplug the hall wires ?

No, it doesn't. Even if a single hall wire is out it won't run at all.

Can i use a controller without the hall sensor input (5 pins)

Not on this particular controller but if you go with another one without hall sensors starting up your motor will be more difficult but it can be done

I'm using an external potentiometer "twist grip" but the motor is always spinning at low speed, twisting makes it go super fast, but i can't get it to stop when not turning the pot 🤔

Did you remember to make sure the pot on the board needs be turned off, counter clockwise?

Hi i have mounted a 350w hoverboard motor on my bike. When i used the board from the hoverboard the motor could move the bike with me sitting on it. When i switched to a board like this(36-60v 400w 20a) the motor can barely move the bike without a human sitting on it. Pls help

@@JaceN3D Thanks for replying, i found the problem with the motor. It was the motor which had broken when i mounted it(i hammered on it)

I'm trying to work on a similar project and was wondering if the motor is even capable of delivering enough torque to produce a meaningful speed on a bike. Would you mind sharing more details regarding what you did and found out?

@@saijunoothula5917 Sadly the 350w motor was not powerful enough. I bought a 48v 1800w motor instead and my new bike runs great. With a top speed of 50kmh and a run time of 1.5h the bike is very fun to ride.

What will happen if we misconfigure the sequence when connecting the A, B, C motor hall cables to the ports hall on the driver? Can it damage the driver if this continues happen? Please answer

You should not worry. With any brusless motor, like these, they will either work, or just rotate in the opposite rotation. Just plug them in, and if they are rotating backwards, unplug any 2 wires and change their place.
