"step by step, until you reach your goal", "work hard" - Takes the shortcut and simply does a marathon without hard work and without the necessary steps.

my thoughts exactly. This video is a contradiction.
@Lumpycheeses5 жыл бұрын
@@ThePoopThatTookaPeee I would say the exact opposite. I think the message is that you don't have to practice for something to try to do it. That too often people put so much time and focusing on trying to get to the point that they can pull the trigger instead of just doing it.

This is the best reason to run a marathon! Life will not always let you prepare for what's coming, but you can always take it step by step "I'm discovering the dreams and goals that I want and I'm realizing there is only one way to get there, that is taking one step at a time"
@avocat022 жыл бұрын
This is the most self-indulgent, vainglorious one of these “I ran a marathon without training for it” videos (and sadly, there are plenty of them). You talked about working hard to achieve your goals, but you didn’t put in the work, and it showed.
@igrand64736 жыл бұрын
Preparation is everything. failing to prepare is preparing to fail. With 12 weeks training 100% commitment you could halve that time. It’s like walking into the cage for a ufc fight with no training, go in prepared or be ready for a beating!
@rabailey107 жыл бұрын
Probably would've been best to just walk the whole way most people can walk 26 miles in around 7 hours still good job

A lot of haters in here, try it then talk shit. Running a marathon is a great achievement, only around 10-15% of marathons runners don’t walk at any point. It’s a strange mental, physical and emotional experience. Congrats on the finish.

@jbentone69506 жыл бұрын
No offense, but you didn't run a marathon in any sense. You walked a marathon, at a very slow walking pace. It looks like you finished in 8:47:xx. That's more than 20 minutes per mile. That's not exactly movie-worthy. To put this in perspective, my grandmother used to participate in the Walk for Hunger (which, to be fair, is only 20 miles) every year and averaged a little under 17 minutes/mile. I'm not saying you didn't accomplish anything, but saying that you "ran" a marathon minimizes the dedication and sacrifice that it takes to actually run 26.2 miles. Had you said "I walked a marathon with no training," I would praise you for doing so. Instead, you write this disingenuous garbage.

@jbentone69506 жыл бұрын
As a matter of fact, I do. I'm a hack, without much talent, but I run 4-6 times/wk (4 during winter, 5-6 during spring/summer/fall). I'll never win a medal (besides the finisher's medal), but I've run everything from 5Ks/10Ks (a bunch) to half-marathons (a handful) to a marathon (only one so far). Here's what's different about a marathon: you can't fake it. Even a half isn't that bad if you run regularly (with a long run every 7-14 days). But a marathon takes serious training and dedication, along with aches and pains (during my 16-week specific phase, I had tendinitis, IT band problems, as well as increased heart rate, and that's for a slow runner like me). At mile 22 of my marathon, I had to chew extra-strength tylenol and rub biofreeze on my legs; but I kept running. I didn't reach my goal of qualifying for Boston, but I did my best for my limited ability. The point being - if you want to run a marathon, put in the time and effort. Don't half-ass it.

I run one marathon per year about five hour finish with absolutely no training. I walk my dogs, and referee soccer on weekends that's it. However, I have run one hundred ten marathons and fifteen races over twenty six miles including five, fifty mile races. Mentally I can run a marathon I know what my body can tolerate at what speed.

It's funny how if someone completes a 5K in 1 hour, it's walking, but someone completing a marathon in 9 hours becomes "running". It's why I dislike the majority of marathoners and ultra marathoners. Somehow by increasing the distance and just finishing becomes running whereas at any other distance it would be considered walking extremely slowly. You would never see a video of someone completing 1 lap around a track in 5:00 minutes and saying they "ran" a 400.
