I started running aged 46, i'll bag my sub 20 next year once I have my long races out of the way. Target number 1 for me too.

@@Therevolution7 Marathon training so lost a bit of leg speed, still regularly hitting 21s at parkruns.

@@Ultrarunnerdad And now? The marathon training will pay dividends in the long run. With the aerobic base, once you start doing speed work you'll improve quickly.

Try long runs. 10-15k's. try doing 2 long runs a week. And one 5k run. But on the 5k run. Do 5 x1km at your target pace 4minutes per km. But with a minute or two break In Between the km's You'll be doing sub 20 in no time.
