Who here uses a car for a detailing/valeting business?
@claydoncarcare60874 жыл бұрын
I use a car for detailing, I have a vw touran. And have had no issues with using water and power from customers. So much better than a van better on fuel etc and save tons of money doing so! It’s more cost affective for me! I think having a van is good but I’m not a guy that’s out here going look at meee! I let my work do the taking to be honest
@jonlinder1894 жыл бұрын
Yep, good old Mk1 Skoda Octavia vrs Estate... Enough space without dropping seats, and quick enough to nip between jobs. No issues with water or electricity as all new clients are informed prior to booking. Got a coat for the rain and layers for the cold, and a flask of coffee and snacks... I am considering changing my Karcher K4 for one of the Direct Hoses Black/Grey washers as the units are very compact (33x25cm!) and the detailing kits come with everything you need and a choice of hose lengths.

Excellent job mate! 👍 Nice to see your flexibility on the job. I’ve always been of the opinion that if u can avoid using a van then do. Vans are great especially the Ford transit custom, but they’re a magnet for thieves, require more expensive insurance, and are in no way nearly as comfortable as a car. If u can get a high sided car/mpv/suv, then you’re better off imho. Just a word of caution, if you’re getting continuous headaches, that’s not good man. Try and isolate different things to understand the cause(s). Try different products/ positions/environments and see if there’s any difference. Oh and btw without wishing to sound like a c**k it’s pronounced “vallay” not “valette” Another great vid and can’t wait for the next one. Keep em coming pls Stay safe

Dave this is a great video and a lot of detailers across the pond stress that you must have a van or you are not a legitimate detailer. I have a small SUV a Dodge Nitro and I don't want a van and I am a professional and able to complete every job. It was great to see a detailer mention the children's car seats and being legally responsible if they are not installed correctly. Would you also mention cleaning the brake and gas pedals and NOT applying anything that would make them slick or slippery like an oil based restorer. That is another slippery slope applying anything to the brake and gas pedals that could cause the drivers feet to slip and have an accident. I communicate with the clients so I know what equipment I need and what I will need to complete the job. Your videos rock and I am wondering how Mark and Stephens tea tasted it looked like rubbish. Have a great day. How do we contact you to ask you a question or two?

GBP50 for a car wash is expensive or not in UK? In Hong Kong, it is normally below GBP20 for casual wash, some cheap machine wash around GBP10
@epicautomotivedetailing4 жыл бұрын
No way that's cheap. In the UK an average price for a mobile clean is around 35-50 GBP. 🙂

Very valid points you made there Dave. Always wise to clarify with the client/customer exactly what needs doing and carry only what you need to get the job done. Fewer items to carry and sort out and of course less expense as no separate vehicle. It's only when the customer asks for something extra or they were economical with the truth would you need extra items. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Karl, when I started out I had a real tough time and made many mistakes working on bad cars in bad weather so it took many years to get good ones like this and I'm fortunate now that I got clients who have power and water. I'm thinking of getting a Skoda yeti or something instead of the van

But here I need a tent and heater. a genrator, and more. since I also do polishing and wox. deap clean seats and leather. and the rest of the car inside. winows treatment and do not forget the pastic. you can also polishin 2 c....just cold....and the wax has to sit for a longer time. So I know about how it is. But I am gone have a trailer for it. so I don't need to fill up the family car with thing every time and lose 30 min everytime. ohhh I don't have space for it all in my estate car, even if it is a mb 211. witch is big. thanks a lot. and all the best.

Hello its never a problem. Those people that say its essential to have a water tank are completely wrong. Look not everyone has an outside water supply and thats ok because sometimes you can't say yes to everyone. Hi mate! First of all great vid, great charisma and good skills...I used to do this for Secure Valeting working for BCA (British car auctions) but didn't go the extra mile with valeting. Still I enjoyed it and became passionate about it and start thinking more about this lately. I was just curious if you can give me a start up price (no van or car required in the price) for tools, products...roughly. Also is it worth spending 5 6 + hours on a car if you can provide other services more in depth, such as wax, polishing...or would be better to stick to 2 h £50 a car taking your example. Thank you and good luck !

100% agree man I always try to work my best around them as a lot of customers expect when they have kids they will get crumbs, bits etc all over again most people are quite the same with that sort of thing but definitely leave them in if possible or in the other case be very clear to your customer before removing them if that’s what your process would rather be either way that sort of thing be very clear on what your doing before you get going with a hoover 👍🏼💎

In the shop. We ask customers to remove them. If need help we do. But we don’t put them back in. In the USA you get sue for everything. It’s a liability thing. We don’t want a customer to say their child got hurt or die because we put it back in wrong.

Hi Dave, how do you sell your maintenance program? What happens if a customer has a really bad car but he booked for a Standard 50£ valet? Usually they say "not too bad" but when you get there it's full of dog hair and sand....how do you manage customer's expectations and charge extra? That's something i struggle with...i feel that i might disappoint the customer by charging him more even if his car is really bad and needs extra time
@epicautomotivedetailing3 жыл бұрын
On my website I put terms and conditions on my price list. So the maintenance program only qualifies for certain vehicles. So on my maintenance program I put 30 mins max in vacuum cleaning so once that 30 mins is up I'm done and they have to pay extra.
