had 5 surgeries and then double replacement. I am an alpha male. I am 74 and will run on days when the ground is soft but just a mile as opposed to the 12 20 years ago. I play pickleball and walk/bike lots. Replacement 12 years ago. Fell great

Great news. So replacements for the future should allow practically full return to sporting activities in a majority of cases. Incredible.

Yes, but robotic surgery and top-notch physical therapy are crucial in achieving this. Here's an article from Dr. Stone on the importance of robotics in orthopaedic surgery www.stoneclinic.com/blog/why-robots-matter-surgery

I shattered my knee into 8 pieces in a motorcycle accident, because I'm to young for a replacement they rebuilt it. ORIF was a success, had the metal work removed 30th of January, and throughout it all the nhs physio therapy team done nothing for me, I've done all the hard work myself and managed to run for 6 seconds at a fast pace for the first time the happiness was overwhelming, I used to run 5 miles out door every night after gym but that's 6 seconds topped it all... never give up you'll forever be thankful

Im 32 years old Mountain Runner/ Powerlifter. Since last 10 years i had 8 sugeries on my right knee. ACL Reconstruction/ Cartilage transplant/ Half Meniscus cut and some random Artroscophies. I never give up. Im still running, but sometimes im very scared of my future. How many operations can my knee take? This questions hit me everyday. Im scared one day i will have Knee replacement. Last 10 years was hell for me. Fighting alone with these things costed mevery high depression problems. I dont know what to do, but i dont want to give up.

Hi there. Sorry to hear of the struggles and the pain you've had to endure. We urge you to not give up. We've helped many patients who've had multiple failed surgeries and bounced back to full athletics. Here's a couple stories that are similar to your own www.stoneclinic.com/story/weightlifter-returns-training-after-meniscus-replacement and www.stoneclinic.com/story/25-year-olds-disaster-knee-saved-bioknee-program. Hopefully they provide some inspiration.

What is your opinion on minimal invasive procedures for knee replacement. Rush hospital seems to be the pioneer in that surgery
@stoneclinic
@stoneclinic Жыл бұрын
Hi there, Edda. We can't really speak to the choices and the quality of surgery other than our own. So no advice to share on Rush Hospital. However, we believe we are on the cutting edge of minimally invasive and long-term solutions in knee treatment. So you may review our approach and compare the two and ask better questions of to your care team www.stoneclinic.com/robotic-joint-center

Hey im actually nearby one of your locations. I may be getting surgery for my right ankle. Dr.degeovani a foot/ankle specialist told me that ill need anklle fusion or replacement 10-20-30 years from now and i am 18. Do you guys have any ways to prevent more cartilage damage or a way to regenerate it? Some sort of allograft or something? Ty
@stoneclinic
@stoneclinic Жыл бұрын
Hello, Eduardo. We have helped many younger ankle patients with our Articular Cartilage Paste Graft procedure. The procedure stimulates a cartilage regeneration response in your ankle cartilage and can completely avoid an ankle fusion or replacement procedure (without any use of artificial implants or hardware). You can see patients who've undergone this procedure here www.stoneclinic.com/patient-stories/treatments/ankle-cartilage-repair and read more about the differences between these types of surgeries www.stoneclinic.com/blog/ankle-replacement-or-ankle-fusion

Helllo again MAG. See our last comment responding to your question. Basically, you may get an idea of what may be going on by using our Knee Self Diagnosis Symptom Checker (www.stoneclinic.com/knee-self-diagnosis) , but ultimately it will require an MRI, x-ray, and a orthopedist /sports med doctor to accurately assess what's causing the problem in your knee.

What happens if you have cement in your new knee?
@stoneclinic
@stoneclinic Жыл бұрын
Hello, Peter. This common in most types of knee replacements. It's not a problem, but we opt to perform our knee replacements without cement as it is proven to be more durable and allows our patients to return to higher intensity & impact sports. To find out which sports are permissible with your knee replacement, you should speak to your orthopaedic physician and physical therapy team to see what you can be cleared to do. You may find more on our robotic knee replacement program here www.stoneclinic.com/robotic-joint-center
