I have finally gotten round to uploading a video of my vintage fan collection, after much contemplation! Enjoy a full run up and spin down of every fan I've got.

I love those GEC bullet fans. I wish the company implemented these for 120v 60hz countries.
@LucasTheTechCollector9 ай бұрын
As far as I know GEC only sold them in the UK and perhaps South Africa, but it would have been nice for them to make an American model too!

The Panacool is beautiful ❤

Thanks, it's one of my favourites! What the video doesn't show is the fact that it's been abused in the past (lots of paint chips etc) which is a shame.

I’ve got a 9” Jet but 2nd speed doesn’t work, need to look at it. The Hitachi is lovely

Thanks Richie, I plan to make a more in-depth video of my collection at some point as this video is somewhat mediocre and I have acquired a few new fans since then. :)

My T10s always have a better run down time than the T12’s. Some great fans

El otro día vi un video de un ventilador mecánico de 1900 que funciona a cuerda y se carga girando una manivela.

Uf, eso si que es una technologia muy antigua jaja.

That is a very nice collection of fans. Also I have wondered, how powerful are the metal bladed GEC bullet fans?
@LucasTheTechCollector9 ай бұрын
Thank you! The GEC metal-bladed fan sounds powerful but in reality it doesn't have a great airflow (when compared to the Hitachi or the Tatung for example).
@RichieRouge2065 ай бұрын
Those Bullet fans don’t half sound like Tauruses but then they are both GEC products

Those Cool Boys where sold a lot here in South Africa!
@LucasTheTechCollector6 ай бұрын
Thanks for the information. I had never seen one before here in the UK, so it might have been brought back from SA by someone who used to live there!

6:29 Does that Hitachi have a timer? 7:19 That "Cool Boy" looks more like a Taiwanese ripoff of a Sanyo fan. However if it's a real Sanyo then wow! I love the slow start of the National Panacool, at first I thought its capacitor went weak but it seems to reach full speed.
@LucasTheTechCollectorАй бұрын
The Hitachi does indeed have a timer! Sadly when I tested it however, it did not appear to function. The "Cool Boy" fan is indeed unusual as it features the styling of some Taiwanese Sanyo fans. Here in the UK in the late 1980's we also had Pifco fans that were near identical so probably originated from the same factory in Taiwan - whether or not they are real Sanyos or just knockoffs, I don't really know.
@TheMatsushitaManАй бұрын
@@LucasTheTechCollector Aw, shame about the broken timer. You could take the motor cover off the Cool Boy and check the motor. Sanyo motors have a distinct design, there may be clones though so check the run capacitor as well.
@LucasTheTechCollectorАй бұрын
@@TheMatsushitaMan Thanks, I have taken the fan apart to clean it before but did not have a close look at the capacitor, I'll dig it out again!

When did you get that 70s t10 Taurus? I think it might be my old one that I sold on eBay 😂
@LucasTheTechCollectorАй бұрын
Oh lol! I believe I got it around late August/early September of last year.
@LaundryGuy1500Ай бұрын
@@LucasTheTechCollector sounds about right 😂 I'm fully sure that's my old one, I think it sold for 23 quid or so and I remember the base was in quite a state as I didn't have a chance to properly restore it. if it is my one you've done a good job fixing it up
@LucasTheTechCollectorАй бұрын
@@LaundryGuy1500 Lol, sounds like it's definitely the same fan - was it you that repaired the buttons by adding some newer ones underneath the old ones? That was a very clever fix!
@LaundryGuy1500Ай бұрын
@@LucasTheTechCollector yep 😂 glad you appreciate that. It’s defo the same fan I had then 😅. The original buttons were knackered they wouldn’t stay pressed down so i replaced them with those buttons that came off a cheap q connect 9 inch thing that was broken. That t10 was in a right mess when I got it, was seized solid which I fixed with oil, I also replaced the cord and plug as the original one was in a horrible state. It’s looking great now though!
@LaundryGuy1500Ай бұрын
Did you repaint the base or did you manage to clean all those stains off? I did try for ages to clean those marks off but gave up as I just assumed they were stained in and it would need painting

Is this only fans? As much as I see people talking about it all the time I thought it would be a little more exciting.
