Great first video but I love how you have both developed your videos into real informative professional productions with narration……superb.

If I miss anything after retiring, it's the steady rhythm of the bricky's day. Your clearing off the site and on to whatever's next was enough indication of your skills. Leaving it tidy for the next man is always the best way. Good practice, good movie.

Proper bricklayers , that’s some strength one handed concrete blocks off that stack of bricks , grip like a gorilla 👍🏻
@SteveAndAlexBuild6 жыл бұрын
Bob Builder Thanks pal we hate those blocks ! They are killers . We build the garages out of them but flat which is much easier 👍🏼

Very good brickies and a very tidy job, but what about "pointing up" the bricks afterwards ? The bricks are obviously going to be seen, otherwise blocks would have been used.
@SteveAndAlexBuild6 жыл бұрын
Raymond Wilkinson . Yes pal as they are engineering bricks they can almost be left all day before we joint them , well spotted though I never realised we haven’t included footage of Alex joining up . Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏼

A question from a novice if you please...when laying to the line using profiles, is there no need to plumb, level or range or is that just when you are learning to feel them down and building corners etc?
@SteveAndAlexBuild6 жыл бұрын
Carl Hi pal once that profile is set your good for about 24 courses if you want . All you need to do is gauge your line every course . Some brickies even mark the gauge onto their profiles. Thanks for the question and for watching 👍🏼
@Carl-yu6uw6 жыл бұрын
@@SteveAndAlexBuild Thanks Steve. They are worth their weight then!
@SteveAndAlexBuild6 жыл бұрын
Carl ABSOLUTELY! had mine 30 years , they are the best thing I have ever bought without a doubt . Once you have a 3 course corner built the day before you start ( 6 brick ) that’s it , no more corners you just keep raising them up when you need to 👍🏼👌🏼 Have you seen our video on how to set them up ?
@Carl-yu6uw6 жыл бұрын

Iv been laying bricks for 10+ years on private jobs. Site work seems a whole different game. How can I go about joining a gang? I’m thinking of starting in the footings till I’m upto speed else or until I build confidence. Following your vids 👍
@SteveAndAlexBuild5 жыл бұрын
Death Glad you like our videos . There is no specific way to get on site . We just landed lucky by being recommend by somebody I knew . Watch our next few vids before you jump into the footings 🙄it ain’t fun in winter 🥶🧱👍🏽 Thanks for watching and commenting pal

Do you load yourself out with bricks and muck or do you use hoddies? or should I say labourers now as proper hod carriers are a thing of the past!
@SteveAndAlexBuild6 жыл бұрын
Boxing Fisherman Hi pal it’s just us 2 . We do our own loading out . The firm we work for have forks for the excavators which means most of the time the materials get put right in the middle of the plots . They will also move our mortar tub with 2 big mixes in anywhere we want it . Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏼

Why don't the perps line-up properly on the blocks? I thought you'd separate them to be half-way across the course underneath, but these are all over the place.
@SteveAndAlexBuild5 жыл бұрын
You will never get perfect bond from trench block to 100 mm block to brick , we try and bond as best we can . As long as you have a minimum of quarter bond. Thanks for watching and commenting 🧱👍🏼
@toddsjaws6 жыл бұрын
As long as The outcome is the same. Also why don’t you have a mason tender.

jason peter spratt . Hi Jason thanks for the comment and sub . Our profiles are original Blake’s profiles . I bought them when I was an apprentice nearly 30 years ago ! They have never let me down
@toddsjaws6 жыл бұрын
Hey the work looks good. There no need to tap and scrape that much on your brick
@SteveAndAlexBuild6 жыл бұрын
toddsjaws todd . True we do tap too much , I spread a bit too much to make sure there is enough mortar for the perps so end up with a few extra taps . Thanks for watching and commenting by the way 👍🏼
