I have an empty SE/30 case. It came as part of a huge lot of Mac stuff. 5 cases but enough parts for just 4 compact Macs. I have the parts for a Raspberry Pi Mac and a 3D printer to create parts for fixing the 10” 4:3 LCD panel and other components into the case. This video is a massive help! Thank you!

Thanks for this. I'm fairly new to RasPi and to Linux, but have been a Mac user for about 10 years, from OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Your instructions are excellent, and I've successfully installed OS 7 and upgraded to 7.5.5 so far. The rest will have to wait until later, but I'm looking forward to some nostalgia (it's not what is used to be) later.

Thanks so much for this, it's awesome! If you name your disk image "disk1.dsk" instead of "mac.dsk", then macvmini will automatically mount it without needing to specify it at the command prompt. (You can also have others, disk2.dsk, disk3.dsk, etc)

Ha, nice video there. I'm more of a DOS guy myself when it comes to computers that old other than the Commodore64, but having classic MacOS fully running on the RPi makes me think of how awesome it'd be to get hands on some old AppleII case, replace the inside with a LCD screen and the RPi and well, basically get a new born Mac out of this. In fact there are people who did that already, I probably wouldn't have the guts to do so but it sure sounds like fun to realize. Otherwise... thumbs up for being a fan of SimCity2000! Have the CD variant myself that includes the DOS, Windows and Mac versions of the game, still use to play it every now and then because it's so much fun :]

I had a Powermac 9600 I picked up from a yard sale for $50 in 2003. Took it home and set it up and downloaded hundreds of programs off of usenet group for it. All kinds of cool programs and it worked pretty well. I put a G3 upgrade card and 768MB of ram in. This is a machine from 1997. 6 PCI slots as well. Theoretically it could go up to 1.5GB of ram but I never needed more for system 9. A real beast. Now I can emulate it with a damn $35 credit card sized computer.

building Mini vMac is pretty simple if you have the right tools to do it all you need is a C++ compiler for your target platform, a copy of Mini vMac, system disk image, and the source generator disk (which allows you to specify build options, which it then spits out as a zip file containing C++ sources)

@gordoncraig82383 жыл бұрын
Good stuff. I ran this on a Pi4 32bit. I then looked at the 64bit raspian and it doesn't work there, so inspired by your video on compiling I got it going. Here's some details. You need libx11-dev installed. Follow the mini vmac webpage, changing the options to ./setup_t -t lx64 -m II -hres 960 -vres 540 -depth 3 > setup.sh. The strange thing is that lx64 is for x86_64 and larm is for ARM, but that doesn't work! This works with the same mac disk I used on the 32 bit. I guess they haven't code for a 64 bit ARM, but it is fast enough on lx64. I guess these options are what you used.
