I agree with you Kelly about the cold. I’ve been in Minnesota most of my 56 years. I am ready to move to a warmer climate. We are thinking maybe Arkansas.

Another great video. Thank you for taking time and energy to share it. Wemuniche Wilderness is a wonderful place to visit, indeed. I started backpacking San Juans 25+ years ago. It was a lot wilder place then. Regarding cold mornings: it was 26 deg here (Boxley Valley- yes, in Arkansas) few mornings ago. I saw first this year frost flowers. So, not only cold in the mountains of Colorado. Pagosa Springs - getting too touristy for my liking!

9Lives, so glad you fell in love with the remoteness of the Weminuche as I did my first time thru them. Thank you for sharing how they made you feel so small and closer to God. That is one of the main reasons I love to get alone in the high-remote God's country! May he continue to go with you thru your home-stretch of NM now.

LOVE ME SOME ALLEY HOUSE!! We shipped my prodigal son off to Durango in 2017 and when we'd go from NC to Co to visit, we'd sometimes stay in Pagosa and hit the Alley House at least twice during our stay!! I knew you were approaching Wolf Pass in the video from our hikes. Hope you do a good coverage of Alberta Peak!! My prodigal son hiked with us up to the top wearing his...Birkenstocks!! Really enjoyed the trails in the Pagosa Springs area and north of Durango. Beautiful country!! Slainte!!

That restaurant looks amazing. Congrats on making it through Colorado. I'm sure it's bittersweet. Great that you're at a lower latitude ahead of winter weather, but close to the end of your journey.

I'm so glad you made it, to Pagosa Springs off of Wolf Creek pass I was farther east on Wolf Creek Summit hiking North a month ago. On the CDT hiking North🙂 you are a champion hiker, the goat hiker!

I am glad you chatted about the "fear" feeling you experienced momentarily and how remote you are in the wilderness. I often wondered if that feeling crept in on your thru hikes. I have experience it in NH White Mtns from time to time but that is nothing compared to what your doing. Also.... Dude you are so close to the NM border!!! Can't believe how far you have traveled! oh and those dome houses ... best place you have stayed yet! I could live in that thing! LOL

Pagosa to chamas no pushover. Plus the weather changed or is changing drastically. Don't let your guard down until Cuba or Grants. Northern NM is 10k+ feet. I just did cumbres to grants and finished my CDT Lash.

When it was too cold to start the Big Sky Montana ski lifts on time, the kids from Florida were standing and waiting in the shade with coats partially unzipped and oblivious to the cold. I found in 2 ski seasons working at Big Sky, that Montanans regularly bragged about their cold weather, but my experience of living in northwest Iowa, was that Montanans were wimps and couldn’t possibly live in northwest Iowa for a winter.

Crazy how many miles you've done when you think about it ! I can't remember whether you started alone or not. Anyway a group of 4 seems like a great number (easy to do things together, not to much group inertia).

Kelly, Spoiler: No matter how far south you go, it’s only gonna get colder.Soldier on brave heart!
@dannyjamison833710 сағат бұрын
Are you sure about that? I don't know her exact route, so not sure whether she'll be at high altitude for the entire trip. But if she makes it down closer to sea level, she'll be getting warmer every day while progressing through new mexico. Halfway through that state, she'll be at about the same latitude as Phoenix arizona, which is absolutely beautiful right on through November!
@michaelbailot54798 сағат бұрын
@@dannyjamison8337 I was assuming she will always be above 6.000 feet, often above 8,000 feet. I guess I was wrong? I had no idea New Mexico had any place at sea level. I lived there most of my life. I assume they are coming down the Rocky Mountains. Every 500 feet of elevation adds another dimension of cold. I should check a map before opening my mouth😀. As they continue into northern Mexico it is also cold in November-December. Let’s look at a map of her route. Reality check. Thanks.

I have a few videos on the channel explaining how I afford this kind of life -in short I work contracts at hospitals as an RD and I make money on KZbin/other socials. Multiple streams of income at all times. I work really hard in the off season, live below my means, have no debt or bills and save like crazy.
You also managed to pay back your student loans, like a responsible adult...kudos!

Hot springs are always a pass for me, all this talk about brain eating bacteria has me concerned with any fresh water swimming
@dannyjamison833710 сағат бұрын
You're right, never put your head under water in a hot spring! All it takes is one amoeba in your nose or ear and you could be dead in a matter of days if you are unlucky enough.
@tbenedict633518 сағат бұрын
You can dress for the cold however when hot you can't get enough off😂
@nickfadely679415 сағат бұрын
Exactly! They can keep the oppressive heat, humidity, bugs, mold, flat, hurricanes, etc, etc, etc. It'll all be underwater soon enough anyway. Just please stay down south, folks...Colorado is BRUTALLY COLD, SNOWY, and UGLY (trust me, you don't even want to visit here)!!!😀
