pros for app2usb: you can use any usb drive to run your games/apps, you can also reuse that drive to other things as well cons for app2usb: its the same with internal hdd, once a rebuild db happens, your fucked. --- pros for extended storage: easy to use, tightly integrated to the ps4 system, you dont need PC to manage your PS4 games and last but not the least, if rebuild db happens you will be fine, all you have to do is enable GoldHEN, and go to Settings >> Devices >> USB Storage and choose Use the drive, it may ask you to check the drive first and after that, you press the ps button and youll see one by one, all the games starting to pop back again. cons for extended storage: you cant use that drive for anything else. you can only use that drive for ps4 only. the drive is not locked to ps4, its just the filesystem used on it is encrypted so you cant really mess something on it. you can still reuse the drive by reformatting it but that same goes to your games being deleted as well. -- my recommendation for this is, if you really dont mind dedicating that drive for PS4 only use, then just use the extended storage, heck it is actually recommended to use extended storage specially for your fake package because of the failsafe it had (Rebuild Database disaster which can happen depending how badly fucked up the kernel panic you experience).

and where are the saves stored with app2usb? are they actually stored in the hdd or in the ps4?

Game saves are stored in the PS4 like always. As for the database rebuilds, I haven't used App2USB yet but haven't had an issue with the 20 or so rebuilds my PS4 Pro has done since being on V9.00 Jailbreak. Internal and external hdd's are full with fpkg's on both. Picked up 2x 4TB hdd's today to add to the library

For anyone that gets a DB error and you have to "rebuild your database" the current DB_rebuilder scripts will NOT fix External Fkpgs when you run the scripts on FW9.00. It will fix internal games only. On previous FWs db_rebuilder would also fix external HD fpkgs but not on FW9.00

These are mainly the reasons why you’ll probably want to do this method instead of the regular external hard drive mode. 13:30 I have been looking for something like this before but I have a bunch of games on my externa hard drive now. I would have to format the drive and install all those games again and I don’t think it’s worth it in my case. I’m just going to buy an extra one but thank you for the video.

whn on the last jailbreak i had a 4tb exfat full of games working. i updated to 9.0 jailbreak and now my hardrive says usb not compatible, format to use. and ideas why? i got another 1tb harddrive on exfat and that works fine.

Why after transferring games to the external hdd the name of the game looks like a very long bunch of letters and numbers and then it can not be removed / renamed as windows swear on the length of the name. Everything is fine in your video. Why so and what to do about it?

After jailbreaking my PS4 on 9.0, it often won't turn on and the light pulses blue. I leave it in rest mode to avoid having to use the usb again and every third time (let's say) when I try to wake it up from rest mode, the tv screen stays in really dark blue (almost black) color and the ON button on my PS pulses blue. Any experience with this?

Would this help to prevent the "External storage is corrupt" error we get when the PS4 crashes out of Rest Mode like sometimes happens? If we don't have external storage but this type of spoofing it seems like a great way to prevent that issue.

So my internal HDD is now showing almost full. If I add games that take up more than the "Free Space" left on the internal HDD, will the installation fail? If not, how does this reflect if i keep installing past the available space on the internal HDD?

I'm going to do this with EVERY game on my ps4. That way I have all my pkg's backed up and no need of redownloading if I need to. Then I'll just use my ps4 backup and restore to restore my internal hdd back the way it was. Sounds like a good plan to me. It gonna be a long road so let's get to it.

Got the error "Mount_point is incorrect. Mount_point defined is 0 but is connected to USB7" I have plugged in the same port i.e. left front of PS4 got this error second time when I wanted to move more fpkgs to usb after successful first attempt. I have also tried interchanging the mount point number and usb port to right but still the error remains the same. Please help guys

My app ids are displayed on Orbis Toolbox from my hard drive, that may be located on a external drive, The majority of these games are on my external drive Orbis Toolbox lists the game id for installed games on either the internal or external drive. Is there a way of grabbing this information so I can move or remove games that aren't installed but are taking up space on my external drive. For example I have a 3TB drive with 80% of the games ready to rock on the PS4 how do I know what's sitting on my external drive but not ready to run as the games have been deleted from the PS4 but remain on my external drive.
