Seeing Kate Bush being discovered by a younger generation because of Stranger Things was beautiful this year. Kate is a genuine musical genius, unlike anyone else. Her musical achievement is so rich, varied, original, and emotionally deep
@mbrackeva Жыл бұрын
Having said that, this rendition has, apart from text and main melody, nothing in common with the original. And that's a good thing. You shouldn't just "cover" Kate Bush songs, because it's so hard to make them better. Instead PMJ turned it into something quite different, as per usual. And very enjoyable I must say! Wonderful singer too!

You know that feeling Douglas Adams describes where you get this longing directly proportional from how far you are from home? And since Ford was on Earth and his home was Betelguese, it was a stronger feeling than anyone on Earth could understand? That kind of describes how I feel having been a fan of Kate Bush for almost 30 years. And RUTH was the first Kate Bush song I ever heard. And all these people are just discovering her for the first time. Even people that I've tried to get to listen to her over the years who didn't get her are finally listening. It's overwhelming. The song has been changed forever. Kate Bush has been changed forever. It's making me a bit seasick, frankly. But so, so thrilled. And this is a great cover. They kept the spirit of the original while making it their own, which are the hallmarks of any great cover.

One of the things I love about Postmodern Jukebox is that they really get in to the songs they perform. They are obviously excellent musicians and I get the impression they knock out a lot of recordings; I don't know how quickly. But at any rate you can see they are enjoying themselves, as we the listeners are.

She's the best I've heard on this channel so far. She made a phenomenal decision when she let the question hang "is there so much hate for the ones we love?" For a somewhat elongated moment before continueing. It gave gravity to the question. The tempo was fast paced and excited and yet she captured the somber tone of yhe question perfectly in the midst of it all. Absolutely fantastic.

I've been a very big Kate Bush fan since the very beginning (1978), I've seen her live twice (1979/2014) and have all her albums but I must confess I never liked "Running up that Hill" that much (she did so much better!) and never really understood the hype about it. All the covers I ever heard were pretty boring BUT THIS is a great one! Actually, I like it much more than the original. Maybe you didn't really get the dramatic nature of the lyrics, but...who cares? Great jazzy (more New Orleans than "Western" if you ask me...) band, really good singer, and a very energetic and positive vibe. Loved it!!! 🤩Congratulations to all!👍👍👍
