Running water system for Jeep Grand Cherokee wk2

In this video I show how I installed a running water system in my Jeep Grand Cherokee Wk2. It's great when going camping or to the beach or any offroad adventures. I installed a 5 gallon water tank along with an auxiliary battery set up for power.

Nicely done. An upgrade would be to install a sending unit in the tank and connect it to a water Gauge so you can see the water level. I built a similar system for my 2018 wk2 with a 10 gal tank.

I just found these videos of yours and I have to say I'm quite impressed.. You've really put a lot of thought into these additions and designs. I have the same vehicle and live on the road out of my jeep spending the summers camping and winters snowboarding. I'd love to get your input about possibly adding many of these mods into my WK2. Let me know if you still have/use all these additions (tire cary, roof rack and tent, internal slide organizer and lift, water pump, etc.)

Excellent use of the dead space under the Jeep. Any plans to make a wider tank that will completely fill in the space to increase your water supply?

Hi, thanks for the question. My original plan was actually to put a jerry can to carry fuel next to it. I may still go that route but if not I will probably go with a larger water tank. Could probably fit a 15-20 gallon tank without too much trouble.

Genius! You are quite the craftsman. Nicely done. Just curious, what are you running for rims and tires (sizes) and do you have a lift or just using the OEM air ride?

Hi, thank you! My rims are the stock rims for the high altitude model. I do have the air suspension, no mods there. The tires are a 285/50/20 nitto terra grappler. So just slightly wider than stock size. Gives it a more appealing stance without messing with spacers.

Very ambitious and creative. I don't think I could do this. But, why do you want a water tank in your car? Did you explain that?

Thanks! It opens up options for camping. I don’t need a site with water. And since I have my camp kitchen pullout, having water for cleaning right there is nice. It’s also super convenient when going to the beach and what not. It’s easy to rinse any sand etc.

When I lived at the beach I was an avid kitesurfer. Cleaning sand off of your gear when packing up is a constant battle (and keeping your vehicle from becoming a total sandbox). I bought a portable RinseKit to help, but a setup like the one here would have been sooooo much better. I may do something like this on my WK2 but may make it more modular so I can take it out in the winter.

How do you stop the water freezing and breaking the hose and tank?

The tank is not pressurized so if it does freeze, it won't burst anything. I did hook up one of those heating element that are used for RV tanks but haven't really tested out if it works well as I live in south texas and it doesn't get that cold often.

What's tires did you put on? Did you lift or lower w/ airlinks?

They are nitto terra Grapplers 285 50 20. no other modification. i have the air suspension.

The Pump is actually still good. The battery died recently though.
