Interesting to see mods from AU I have some similar for US I was able to get 11.43 cm lift with oldman emu Yokohama geolander 285/75/R17 on some black KX rims but added 6.98500 cm spacer in front struts needed to made adjustment with differential drop and lower ball joints and control arms as well. All in all your Jeep has some terrific accessories top notch for sure. Thanks for sharing

Nice, I have a 2011 limited with the 5.7 hemi. I installed a cold air intake, stainless nerf bars, a bull bar with tow hooks, and most recently 265 65 18 landspyder AT tires. Next is a RC 2.5 inch lift kit

Please explain why you think the Prado is way better. My last car was a Prado and now have a Jeep GC, but do think my Jeep is as good or even better than the Prado off road. The Jeep 4WD drive system is far better than the Prado, ok if you do lots of big mods the Prado is a weapon, but in standard form nothing special. Would like for you test your car against a Prado if you can set that up.

Hi George, thanks for commenting, ok I will try to give you some answers on this... The Jeep has a few nasty habits which cannot be ignored, the biggest one is the fact that the traction control can never be truely turned off, I have found that the most effective way to drive a GC offroad would be to hold the revs at about 2500-2750 rpm and rely on the traction control to sort everything out.....however I am not comparing standard vehicles here, my Jeep is not standard and my Prado was also not standard... The Jeep has as much flex as an ironing board and likes to lift wheels front and rear, the Prado also lifts the front wheels but has great flex on the rear, leaving you with both rear wheels on the ground and one front in the air, my Prado was equipped with a rear locker and they come with a true centre difflock. The Jeep has a habit of up and down shifting even when you are in manual mode, forcing you to use DAC on steep downhills, this gets your brakes real hot and is not great if youre about to do a water crossing. The Prado has a great low first gear (mine had the 5 speed auto box). In a rutted climb, because of the lack of flex the Jeep will loose traction, even with its clever traction control system you can find that physics are against you, simply put two tyres on the ground cannot give enough traction to push 3 tonnes of Jeep up a track, no matter what the traction control does... On a few encounters ive had the traction control stall my engine and leave me with a wheel in the air, in neutral with no engine, holding on the brakes.... My summary of the Grand Cherokee is this, its a great touring vehicle, very luxurious, has plenty of power, is very economical and although it is effective offroad, it does everything a bit worse than a Prado when the tracks get gnarly. I can set up a test against a Prado as I have a friend of mine with one....I will see what can be arranged

@@Richard-Tanya The only way to stop the traction control is to remove the main fuse from the fuse box

Have you added the Offroad Animal aftermarket roof rails to help with Support?
@ashandpaula

Mate that is great. I have the same model and still deciding either the uneek front bar or ARB. the drawer sub frame is the next project. I fitted a uneek roof rack a year ago, their design is a little different as it uses the welds in the top of the roof for support not the original roof rack holes. It is rated for a few hundred KGs. But not as versatile as the one you have. Also how do you go with your CB near your left leg? Do you find it digging in to you leg? Having some thoughts on roof console.

Smashed Glass Brewing CO. Hi, not really had any problems with the cab there.... have seen people bang their heads on roof console and not sure it would work with the panoramic roof.... have you looked at the Offroad animal front bumper?? That would be my choice if I did it again..

richard smith . Thanks for the tip on the roof console. Off road animal bumper looks good but probably need a bit more frontal protection from the Skippys had a few good bingles with the wife’s car and they are just getting higher in numbers where I live. (ACT) I did see a CB mounted in the centre front console where the USB SD card ports are just above it. But limited vision on the CB.

Which grommet did you run your uhf antenna through? Currently installing uhf radio + antenna and i can't seem to get it through the grommets as they all have no space.
@Richard-Tanya
@Richard-Tanya 4 жыл бұрын
Bearing in mind im in Australia and our vehicles are right hand drive, the grommet I used is up behind the glovebox on the passenger side, I used a plastic rod, lubricated with vaselene to push along the loom and out through the grommet, tape the coax to it and pull back through..

@Richard-Tanya

Yes, my diesel does get hot when towing, however its never overheated, I think the gauge is over sensitive and thats the reason.... no ive not cured this, but if I ever do find a cure, I will post the answer.
