Running with the Zhiyun Weebill Lab & testing the Eos R! Review Part 1

Since recording this, Zhiyun have given me an update: The new firmware will: - Improve stability even further, woo! - Enable you to lock the buttons so you don't accidentally press things during use. You can do this by double-pressing the "LV" button (which is the top dial button) to lock the buttons on the front of the gimbal, and triple pressing the button will lock all of them.

great video. there's a new firmware update out now for the weebill that includes a key lock for the buttons and joysticks on the handle. that works fine and prevents from accidentally touching them. after installing just press the LV button twice

Hold the trigger button and triple click the up button to lock it. it fixes all the issues you mentioned.

The Canon 40mm pancake lens and Canon 6dmkii work perfectly with no hacks on the webill, so pretty sure that is the lens you would need for the eos r and this light gimball

Today my Webill Lab arrived and right after I mounted my Canon M50 with a SmallRig cage and a Canon 16-35mm /F4 lens I was disappointed. It looked nice but it simply didn´t work well. Same issue as with your EOS R. I also tried my 6D with a 24-70mm / F2.8 and got the same issue. So the small guy is completely useless which is disapointing because of its max pyload of 3 Kg. Both of my setups are far from 3 Kg and didn´t work because of the front weight of the lenses. I´m really pissed because I was hoping to get a smart gimbal that is easier to carry around than my Crane 2 but as long as it can't handle my regular setups it´s useless. 99%,9% chance I will send it back by tomorrow and stick to my Crane 2.

Awesome video, great quality! I have the WL and love it with my a7iii, however the ZY Play app has some serious issues with doing time lapses, I did a video on it in my channel. Oh and LMAO!! on 8:01!!

If this didn't work out what's the next best thing for transport and travel. I was looking at putting a RP with a 35 RF on it total weight 790gm. I travel, shooting for an event company so weight and size are important - I know I can put a A6400 on it but I'd need a Sigma 16mm f1.4 on it to get some DOF - thing is that's actually 18 gm heavier and its crop frame.

@@Notorious_biggest I went ahead and purchased the Crane 3 LAB. It comes with a USB-C cable to connect and control the EOS R. Hope that helps.

@monkeypixels ... have ya'll had a chance to tryout the smallrig plate and counter weights? I just got a Weebill Lab and was really hoping it could handle the EOSR + 16-35L (+adapter) but definitely no go. I've got a Ronin S as well and was hoping the Weebill could handle the bigger lenses as a backup and smaller profile option. I don't want to buy smallrig's solution if it doesn't work and can't find anyone online who's tested it yet. I will say the Weebill is excellent paired with the 35mm RF 1.8 as far as low profile goes, feels half the size of the Ronin S.

Thanks for this! I am not able to use the Crane 2 at all with my Canon EOS R....the LCD screen doesn't work or it keeps flickering. I bought new cables and adapter and it doesn't work. Can you help troubleshoot?

Hi. I have the Canon EOS R too, and after testing the weebill lab, I decided to change to the Moza Air 2, because it works with my heavy zoom lenses. But I have one question: is it possible to control the video function on the Gimbal. I tried this with nearly every gimbal, but the problem is, that the Canon EOS R does not allow to shoot video, when the USB port is connected. Did you find a solution for that??

i had it for a week when it just came out. couldn't get it to even balance with the olympus 12-40 without touching the back motor. the footage is def jitters noticeably. I've had 3 gimbals prior to this one. id say weebil lab is the worst in terms of footage stability. returned mine btw.

wobbly footage is not really ok IMO. just run handheld if you want a running "feel". on a gimbal it just looks low quality. i returned mine

Mark Shirley I had a Sony a6300 with Sigma 18-35. It’s not a good gimbal for the heavier lenses as you can’t adjust the mounting plate far enough to balance the axis

Running with it in Nepal. EOSR + 35 RF and 10-22 with an adapter. I wish I could balance my L glass. So waiting to see part 2.

I just received my Weebill today and ... what is this little shit. I used it with my A7III and Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 and it doesn't work good as i expected ... I will keep my Moza Aircross wish is a best value, best control of the mouvement, best feeling in hand ...
