ASICS METAFUJI Trail Overview and First Thoughts | A True Trail Super Shoe??

Beautiful shoe. Bought it, and returned it straightaway after trying it on and seeing just how unstable it was with the narrow heel, high stack height and heel seating high on top of the midsole. Hoping ASICS builds it with a wider heel in the next version as this one’s a broken ankle waiting to happen…..Such a shame- was really looking forward to this one

For a heel striker I can see how that's a problem but it's made to go fast so most people wouldn't need a wide heel

@ have you ever run on a steep technical trail- everyone needs a stable heel there, regardless of how you land on the flat….

Interesting......I'm still a Trabuco max 2 super fan!! I've been wearing these shoes for a year, and that FF Blast + is heavenly!!! I'd wear it on concrete for 8 plus hours and no foot pain! I'm 5'7 "at 225 lbs. They do need wider versions!!

Interesting how Hoka went with a unique direction in one of their coming trail models. They're marketing a softer foam on the bottom to absorb and form around the trail sections and various obstacles, in order to Enhance stability! Which is the opposite of what Asics is marketing here. Odd how you can have two very opposite versions of stability in trail shoes coming.

Curious how this will stack against so many awesome trail shoes coming out: TNF SV3 VJ Ultra 3 Norda 005 GS:Land Sportiva Prodigio Pro 2025 will be an amazing year

This is an ultra shoe along the lines of the Terrex Agravic Speed Ultra and the Tecton. It may be great for Leadville. I wouldn’t touch it for Dipsea

Instead of a dual foam, how's about all these companies try and make a trail shoe specific super foam? Being facetious ofc Obvious the r&d costs would be so high for such little return to cater for such a small *but growing* sector or the running community Or perhaps they already tried and this IS the superior option 🤔

I’ve worn it twice and destroyed my ankles on anything technical. This is a ankle killer. I went out and bought another shoe for the trails. Beautiful shoe just not for trails.
