I’m from Loch Lomond. As I was told as a kid, the song is about a captured Scottish soldier. He’s writing to his wife/ girlfriend to say goodbye because he’s to be executed. Their idea of heaven is Loch Lomond. She takes the high road as she will live a full life. He’ll take the low road as he’s to be killed at a young age, but they’ll meet again (in the spiritual sense) at Loch Lomond

Great reaction, that was nice. At the change of tempo in the song they were singing our Scottish language the "Gaelic". You can sing along with the words as it not difficult. They are saying, Ho, ho mo leannan (Oh hello my lover) Ho mo leannan bhoidheach (Oh hello my beautiful lover).

when the song changes up in tempo (5:36 in this video) the band starts singing in Gaelic - the native language of Scotland and the mother tongue of the founding members of the band. the lyrics go: "ho, ho mo leannan, ho, mo leannan bhòidheach, ho, ho mo leannan ho-oo, mo leannan bhòidheach ho" 'Mo leannan bhoidheach' is pronounced "mo lin-yin voy-ich" and it translates as "my beautiful love" (leannan=love/darling; bòidheach=beautiful)

I was at this concert it was a brilliant day capercaillie were great and hothouse flowers had the place jumping before runrig went on stage ,and it was great to see one of my fave djs at that time tom ferrie introduce runrig as he had been trying to get their music to a wider audience, rurig were always superb but the atmosphere at glasgow barrowlands is hard to beat
