Mate the Runva will not let you down, same winch I’ve had for over 2 years now. Only advice is grease it up before you leave it’s a little dry from factory. Meant to say my bar moves heaps like that too no big deal, I think it’s actually the body moving back on the mounts more than the winch pulling the bar off
@WildTouring4 жыл бұрын
Yeah the gap between the bar and body only seemed to open up under serious load. When I backed off the winch the bars still lined up evenly - so not too worried about it!

Good job Cam. You won't be disappointed with the Runva. I've had one on the front of my rig for almost 5yrs now & put it through absolute hell. The only issue I've ever had is the isolator switch failing twice due to it being a pos but a quick bypass soon had it going again. Check out Paul's Julimar video next week & you will see the kind of punishment I put mine through.

When your bull bar was pulling off why wouldn’t you swap to a double line pulled reduce the stress on your bull bar
@WildTouring4 жыл бұрын
Because it wouldn't reduce stress on the vehicle. Its still pulling the same weight from the same point. It just reduces the load on the winch motor, which wasn't an issue.
@waderattray92104 жыл бұрын
Wild Touring if your running it back to the recovery point on your 4X4 you are dividing the stress between the to points. It’s pulling on the recovery point and at the winch

wonering if you used snatch block more if cheaper winch is more viable,last longer,mmmm,
@WildTouring3 жыл бұрын
Probably, anything to reduce load would help. But when this winch failed on other occasions it was not load related - it was electrical issues from water ingress. It's just not good enough to have to split a brand new winch to regrease it because they basically are sold dry. Then reseal it with gasket goo because the machining at the flange and factory gasket are terrible and let heaps of water in. Then have to retorque and lock-tight every bolt because otherwise they rattle loose. If it's something you'll rely on when you're remote, seriously consider saving some coin for something more reliable like the Runva!

When you winch you turn the steering to where you hooked the rope not the opposite way everyone knows that
@WildTouring4 жыл бұрын
There's not always a winch point exactly where you need it. But I'll plant a tree in the middle of the track and try it again in 30 years 😂 But seriously, I did try to winch out to the side of the ruts, but they were too deep for my little 32" ATs and the car just slid along the bank. The car was recovered without anything breaking, so it was a good recovery in my books.

A vehicle should never be driven to assist progress when you are winching. That drive assist can cause shock loads to the winch causing it to fail.
@WildTouring4 жыл бұрын
Cheers for the comment Steve, but I've got to disagree . Yes bouncing off the winch line isn't good for it. But you're working a winch a lot harder if you don't assist it with some steady light throttle. First gear low range and as little wheel spin as possible has always worked well for me.
@gqwarrior66944 жыл бұрын
That depends on the terrain & if you know what you're doing or not. Usually driving while winching is fine as long as you don't over run the winch causing slack. It's morons that don't know what they are doing & over run the winch line that are the problem, not the technique itself.
@stevegoodwin58414 жыл бұрын
Double line pull would be a better option than drive assist in my opinion. Double line pull never used enough as everybody wants instant and fast results.
@gqwarrior66944 жыл бұрын
@@stevegoodwin5841 Like I said, it depends on the situation. I was always taught not to drive while winching but in real world situations, if done correctly & only in the right situations, it is absolutely fine to drive assist. Horses for courses mate.
