When I first tried Runway, before Gen-3 was released, I was shocked at how many credits you got for your money. Now, with Gen-3, it makes even less sense. The price might have been justified if each generation perfectly matched the prompt, but that’s not the case. Additionally you have to upscale and enhance each clip in another software. The 2250 credits in the included plan equals 450 seconds of Gen-2 ! That's not much at all unless you are trying to make 15 seconds KZbin shorts. Has anyone tried the unlimited plan and the explore mode at the relaxed rate? This might be a solution if the generation time isn't too long, at least you get unlimited generations.

Excellent presentation and thank you for keeping it real. I completely agree with what you’ve said considering pricing and restrictions. It’s for this very reason that I prefer to stick to my free tools that somehow work quite well for me. Once this stuff eventually becomes easier accessible, I might start working with it. When paying top price, I expect to have very few limitations and plenty of options.

Yeah, it's too pricey. I did most my AI animations with Haiper when it was free. Now I use their paid plan. Haven't really found a better free solution. Pika has the most bang for your buck, but the quality isn't good enough in my experience.

@@artvsmachine Yes, it’s a bit of a mixed bag. Honestly, I prefer using SVD locally because it’s free and allows me to perform as many generations as I want. I would love to try Luma more seriously, but it’s challenging to get a good sense of it with the limitations of its free plan. With a 7-hour queue (rough estimate), if the result is not what I expected, I have to wait another 7 hours... lol Considering its high price, I would prefer to have a solid test run before investing my money.

Hi! I'm starting to search for viable options for AI animation and I ran into your comment after watching the video. Would you mind sharing the free tools you use? I'm really sorry if I'm being inconvenient!
@artvsmachine6 ай бұрын
@@rodplural For creating AI images try Stable Diffusion Cascade. For video animation, Haiper was the go-to source. Now you have to pay, but the unlimited plan is $30 a month, which is not bad because often Haiper achieves outstanding results, even compared to Runway.

really great vid, love the gen3 prompt guide that was a cool tip. i like how you looked at it from a neutral perspective and described your personal experience with the iterations you actually get vs price points.very pricey, but thats not to hate on the amazing technology its just like how you said, we need iterations to make the complete videos thats just how the process works since the video gens can be so random you need to keep rerolling the same prompt or tweaking it or whatever so there no way around it, and thats part of the fun is making a buncha variations and tweaking it or getting something you didnt expect that looks weird and making it work, just very pricey if you actually wanted to spam generate theres no way unless your like the high tier plan which is more than my car insurance cost, but supply and demand i guess, they have the supply, the demand is there so its fair business

Thanks for your comment, that's exactly it. I want to play around and experiment with Gen-3 more, but without preview images or image-to-video, there are just too many misfires to justify the price.

I guess it’s a reflection of the real cost to Runway of running the servers, so might have to wait a little longer for the tech to get more efficient and cheaper to run.

Agree, there are definitely hardware and engineering costs involved. It would be nice if you could choose "relaxed generations" for the same credits as Gen-2. I don't need things super fast, I want more generations.

Good grief - you are so right! The influencers ignore all the fails and praise it to the skies for one random shot (a simple campfire when God only knows what their prompt was about (a simple hammock?) Good for you for calling 'em out on their ridiculous pricing.

@aivideoschool Can you suggest a good way to run less credit intensive tests before committing to the final output?
@aivideoschoolАй бұрын
For Runway, I think the best you can do is start with an image (rather than text prompt) and use Turbo, which is half the credits per second. Lately I'm more into Kling (which has a great motion brush) and Hailuo (amazing prompt adherence for text prompts).

You could make a full movie but I don't know how well you'd be able to do consistent characters without image-to-video. Midjourney and others are getting better at image to video but if you can start Gen-3 with an image, it's going to be rough.

I am asking this respectfully and not as an argument, but can you explain how professionals in your field are using it? In my day job, professionals are the ones who see AI as a silly toy and individual creators see it as a path to a professional creative career in a new field.

Exactly, I’m using it for professional work. I use it for ai animation and story telling, I re-use certain clips and just lipsync and also do a lot 5 sec b-roll footage so that I can fill the story, due to release episode soon but I love it so far.
