This is a very strange interview. It made me uncomfortable. I also don’t know what these two could possibly have in common - and hence they don’t go past talking about new age hippy trippy stuff. I know that this is a ‘highlight’ from the interview so I’m definitely not interested in hearing more. And why would anyone call her Daddy? Because she swears all the time? I would have loved to have seen a Queer woman interview Ru - someone who we could actually call Daddy. I’m not a hater in a basement btw - I’m a queer artist outside the US who has worked alongside drag queens for 25 years - including several who have been on Drag Race from several counties - who also has a journalism degree, has interviewed hundreds of people - has been interviewed many times myself and has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the history of drag. And a woman. Not a hater. Ru is renowned for not being a ‘nice’ or being a very personable human. I can confirm this first hand from when I was working for a community organisation who brought him across the world for a big event. If I was interviewing Ru -(which I have NO interest in doing) I’d want to ask him what might have led to this armour. You know - actually ask real questions. I have nothing but respect for what Ru has done for our culture but I’d love to understand why there is such a disconnect irl.

Because everyone wants a piece of Ru. The second of she breaks down, they would the first one to step on her neck. Have you not seen all the drag race related channels? Ru can’t do anything right. Apparently she’s the next H*tl*r, according to some of the queens who have been on the show, and decided to bite the hands that fed them. I’m not saying Ru is perfect, by all means. I mean she’s FAR from it. She’s old, and old people need to learn and change. Remember when Mariah Carey had a breakdown? She still can’t shake that off. Even Whitney was still labeled a fiend when she passed. Everyone is ready with a pitchfork and goes “gotcha!” when Ru stumbles down the runway. So listen to what Ru is saying, unless they paying your bills, pay them b*es no mind.
