Note Regarding Cut Testing: So we are polishing for consistency to form a comparison. As opposed to really polishing how you would polish to remove sanding marks in real life. With the blue coarse pad for example I would be pressuring in a lot more to utilise the stiffness of the pad. possibly even cranking up the machine speed more.

Hi Jon. There aren’t diminishing abrasives, they are more of a uni grit / constant cut and therefore should be short cycled each set. A set should consist of one cross hatch pass per set, the set should be around 6-8 times the stress of the pad, and should only take around 45 seconds - 1 minute per set. Working this product long will only lessen the results. If 1 set doesn’t active the desired result then another set should be performed the same as the first set, or a step up should be made. You wouldn’t have to straight to go blue / blue, for example if yellow wool wasn’t doing the job with yellow polish, then you could go with yellow wool and blue compound, or blue foam with yellow polish, the step ups can be that fine tuned. HTH

@@LucaBonato sorry that was a a typo which I can’t edit for some reason, it should read that the set area should 6-8 times the “size “ of the pad you are using, this goes for any of the Bigfoot machines, right down to the nano ibrid.

Abrasive orientation is said to be a combination of both types of abrasives. Work time shouldn't exceed six passes according to Jason Rose from Rupes.

We love the Rupes Yellow wool pads, only downsides we find is that the foam brakes down leading to short pad life. Very versatile pad though, amazing results for a single stage. Try pairing the yellow wool with Uno Pure and Uno Protect, very impressive and perfect for gloss enhancements.

This is an awesome system, Jason Rose and everyone else involved really did a great job on it. I recently did a correction on a silver Hyundai sedan that had heavy defects and very hard paint. To my surprise, I was able to one step it with the DA coarse and blue wool pad. I did do a 2nd step test spot with the yellow foam and DA fine, but I couldn't detect any visible improvement either by eye or under an inspection light. Very impressive finishing result for that aggressive compound and pad on hard paint.

These Rupes DA systems are brilliant when used as per Rupes guides, they are quite specific when compared to others, and are even quite specific on pad priming. Designed to be efficient, the yellow Fine DA system will be the one for most folks, a brilliant one step system, they yellow wool finishes amazingly well and is the one to use on harder paints. The white Uno Pure with a white pad is fantastic for gloss black exterior trim. Everyone has their own methods of polishing, but if you follow the Rupes guides for these systems, you will get the best results.

Hi Just wondering about the priming of the wool pad and hazing. Would hazing be less if the wool pad was not primed? According to a test done by Esoteric priming is pointless and a waste of product and hazing was lower unprimed. If not primed would it outperforme the foam pad? Trying to figure out what to purchase of products as i am taking delivery of a new black Tesla Model Y Performance and want to give that little extra touch before adding a ceramic coating This is what i am currently debating with myself: Sonax Pefect finish polish or Rupes yellow polish with either Rupes yellow foam pad or Rupes yellow wool pad. So when i see different videos testing the wool pads, primed and not primed, with focus on hazing I get a little lost 😅

Great review 👍 I wanted the ask what is better to use the rupes yellow foam pad with the da fine yellow polish or sonax perfect finish. Rupes as a manufacture does not give a cut rating like sonax which is a shame, there's not alot information from the company on the polishes I find. John how does the yellow pad perform with the koch chemie medium polish. How many sets with rupes yellow polish do you have to do to get a full correction just trying to understand their polish.

Jon I’ve been using the yellow mid range kit recently and loved it. I found the fine abrasive lovely to work with and buff afterwards. I always have used foam but now i’m super into wool because of these kits. Very nice on the panel and you’re right it delivers some cutting grunt ! On my paint it even finished out nicely to an acceptable level for me and left it there! (Although i have used UNO and it’s a gorgeous, slick, super enjoyable finishing polish - makes me smile whilst using it honestly)

Game Changer is a term that makes me cringe and is over used these days but the yellow wool has been a game changer for me. For one step enhancements its superb. Team up with an good all in one like Uno Protect and you can all a load of gloss in just a couple of hours. I polish my cars once a year and the yellow wool is all I’ve used for the last couple of years. I’ll just add both my cars have paint on the harder side as both are VAG.

Hey watched the video now, found the panel comparison interesting. My Lotus was my first ever DA polish, after performing some test passes I went with the yellow wool, following that up with the white foam, finally protected with BH Finis Wax… Tempted by their Nano as the Elise has quite a few small areas the 15 is not ideal for, but the cost of a Nano is high when I’m only polishing my own cars… Favourite KZbin channel at the moment 👍🏻

Hey jon. Partnership aside, how would you compare rupes abrasives to Koch ones?
@ForensicDetailing
@ForensicDetailing 3 жыл бұрын
really interesting less oily, and as others have said you need to shorten you sets with the rupes system. I think the koch stuff suits rotary application more and is more forgiving, can be worked for long time. rupes are giving you a suite that caters more lower processing times on DA's that will come in usefull when refinishing paintwork and you are mopping out sanding marks all over the car. the blue foam and corase compound does a hell of a lot of work in tiny time frames. And the fine can refine this well enough. Its a fantastic system. But if you dont use the rupes system incorrectly specuially the blue coarse you can dust it up and make life hard for yourself if you overwork it. but none of this is rocket science. its very very good,

@@ForensicDetailing I’ve tried the above (yellow wool/UNO protect combo) on BMW Black sapphire paint and was really impressed with the results. A very acceptable one hit solution and gives a good 6 month protection with really good beading qualities. Followed up with yellow wool/ DA fine combo and the areas needing a bit more correction. Don’t get me wrong BMW Sapphire black is hard as diamonds, and could go full blue, for an even better correction, but this creates the need for a 2nd or been 3rd step. I think once you’ve tried this combo you’ll find it hard to reach for anything else.
