The Ford Family Foundation hosted a leadership summit for the Rural Home Visiting Systems Coordination Project on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at the Foundation's headquarters in Roseburg, Oregon.
Speakers at this event included national expert and lifelong early childhood advocate, Karen Ponder and Oregon’s Early Learning Council chair, Sue Miller. Most importantly, however, was the presence of Douglas County parents who have interacted with the child welfare system and Coos County parents who have been served by home visiting programs.
The mission of the Rural Home Visiting Systems Coordination Project is to improve the system
and coordination of accessible, culturally affirming, quality home visiting programs and family support services so that more children and families are served. The vision is one in which children are raised in healthy, stable, and attached families and the early learning system is aligned, coordinated, and family-centered.
