Ahhhh the mountain life. You see it in magazines, on TV, and plastered all over Instagram. You know what you don't see? The nitty gritty of actually living in a rural mountain community. Things like, ya know....what you have to do in order to have running water at your house. So, come with me on a short drive while I explain the whole process.
Step 1. Drive 10 minutes down the road to the water station.
Step 2. Fill up the 225 gallon tank in the back of your truck
Step 3. Drive home....carefully.
Step 4. Pump the water from your holding tank into your underground cistern
Step 5. Repeat until your cistern is full
Really it's not quite so bad. Until winter. Winter is bad. Our driveway is close to a quarter mile long and has a switchback in it so winter is a tough time to handle our water. Thankfully I drive an F150 and with snow tires on there I've never had an issue. We used to do this before the truck and I had to haul water on a trailer. That sure was interesting.
