@@peterjones7782 of course I just mean by the media/music press...there are certain players that are continuously talked about. Granted they're amazing but for me he is as important to the evolution of electric guitar as practically anyone

@@KhalDrogo76 I fully agree, here in the UK during the 70's they were already a cult band with a huge following. The music press were constantly criticising them, which only made our love and respect for them even greater. Every tour announcement was met with eager anticipation, they were always superb here in London at Hammersmith Odeon. Lerxst was and still is one of the finest guitarists.

Stevedrums, I was at that show and when Neil took out his personal camera and took a picture of Geddy and Alex, with the audience behind them, and then came down and took a bow, I knew that was the last time I would see the professor on the big stage. it’s was heartbreaking after such a great show. Danny was at that show, I chatted with him for about 10 minutes before going in, super cool dude, really cool to see him up there almost filling those shoes.

I think it is important to note that Geddy and Alex's song choice of playing Working Man also pays tribute to another drummer, their first one: John Rutsey who played this song on the debut album. He passed in 2008 at the age of 55. These gents are detail oriented.

This version of Working Man is also very freeform, improvisational, and Chad Smith does a good job of keeping it loose. I have no doubt this is close to how it sounded in the early days with Rutsey when they were playing bars in Toronto.

Yes! I met Danny outside the forum at the very last Rush show. I said “Danny” so casually he walked over to me and we chatted for about five minutes. Then he said “do I know you” and I said “nope just a fan”. He said “oh I thought we might work together or something”. Then we casually chatted for about five more minutes. and then he went in to see the professors last show, and it was Magic! Super cool down to earth guy. Wish I could’ve met Neil but I never wanted to bug him, even when I had the chance. I would’ve fan Boyd out and said “caress of steel sat on my turntable for two years straight when I was 12 years old, And it’s my favorite album ever”. Neil would have said “security”. Danny is my age and did not write and play my life story like Neil did, so it was really easy to talk to him. Just say... “Danny”

@@stevedrums1675 I understand what you’re saying, however you must not be a drummer or know anything about drumming. No offense. It’s one thing to play a song that’s in a general 4/4 time signature and add your own flavor. I get that. Rush songs were built to perfection. There’s no room to add your own flavor in that kind of music. As I stated above although the guys that played were fantastic none of them have Neil‘s magic touch on those songs. I had a feeling when I commented on this that some jack off would jump on here and act as if they know what they’re talking about. Obviously you don’t. I did some research on you and from what I can gather you were arrested for being a peeping Tom. That’s disgusting.

Three songs-three drummers. No disrespect intended, but did anyone else think: “That’s what it takes to fill the Professors absence.”😢Admirably I might add and thank full for it❤️🤘🖖✌️🥁🥁🥁#RIP Neil & Taylor.

7:18.... All props to Dave for all kinds of reasons but Geddys face and movement when Chad kicked in is all ya need to know when it comes to drums. RIP Neil.

Chad was the best groove match to Geddy from these 3 drummers IMHO, though Dave did a great job too, I think slightly better than in Wembley feel wise. Carey, while technically amazing just didn’t gel with them on the breaks while he did got the grooves. Still amazing to see ‘jam sessions’ with real pro’s…

they were probably wondering when he was going to come in... it sounds like he was playing it like the studio recording. Neil always added a little more flair in the beginning lol

My favorite living drummer with my favorite band? Just fucking goosebumps. A great tribute to friends who are no longer with us. BTW, here is a link to the 2008 concert with Taylor Hawkins and Rush. The video is choppier than than a Sushi Chef with Parkinson's Disease in an Earthquake ............... but the audio is solid. Well worth a look!!!

I have no idea how Geddys Bass playing just gets better & better. His freeking tone and how loose he is for the Working Man breakdown here(and the rest of the set) and the Wembley gig is just bone shuddering. I have to Pick my Jaw up off the floor everytime.

Geddy and Alex must have even more respect for Neil then they already did after having played now with so many other drummers. Some come close but I have yet to see any nail it.
@SaffronGold Жыл бұрын
No one can nail it like Neil. I respect them all though, and I believe whole heartedly they knew they can’t match it but did their best which is a beautiful thing in itself.
