Love Rush, have pretty much followed them their entire career. I have been a drummer for nearly 50 years and Neil is one great big reason why! God bless the Professor rest in peace Sir.

😢I just got to say this, not only as the biggest fan but also as a compliment to him but MUTHATRUCKIN Neil Peart, to the last album, still writing words/lyrics about subject matter that would have to make this 44yo at that time, look shit up and do research on it to TOTALLY GET and understand the meaning of something like this even though I loved the music/song already(courtesy of Alex and Geddy)but DAMN what a talent and scholar he was for us all. Only Rush baby, can only be Rush.🤘🖖✌️🎸🥁🎤🎹🎼❤️

Fantastic analysis. Neil was so good at synthesizing information into meaning all while making it rhyme. I would love to hear your thoughts on the song "Emotion Detector" off Power Windows. I guess it's not a very esoteric song, but his insights are so viscerally true: "Sometimes our big splashes are just ripples in the pool"

Hey Nena ! Perfect analysis as always ! Neil was a real genius at writing ! The way he put this concept into a relatable story is awesome ! I have to admit, that I was (and to a certain degree still am, although being aware of it) guilty of falling for the halo effect. This definetely gave some questions to ponder on : I wonder if the halo effect affects intuitive dominant people more (as he was one too) and where the line is between intuitively knowing someome pretty quickly and the filling in by the halo effect, or if they are pretty intertwined and therefore pretty undistinguishable. This is real food for thought, thank you for bringing it up ! Have a wonderful Christmas 🎄🤗🤗💛

I definitely second "The Pass". My third favorite Rush song
@polymathgАй бұрын
"A goddess with wings on her heels..." at the end of the song is not him still pedestalizing her. He's only emphasizing as a concluding thought just how shameful he feels to acknowledge his own foolishness. I thought this was obvious. By the end of the song, infatuated was the last thing he was feeling about this woman. He was really disappointed... very much in her, but much more in himself for falling in love with his own lie about her.

What is your favorite song off of Clockwork Angels? I look forward to hearing your thoughts on Halo Effect! Happy Holidays! Love, Nena Rush Playlist: kzbin.info/aero/PLDKVsMWr0WUREwMkyb1w4Ne2Nn6LMugDP

I think falling victim to the halo effect can be quite dangerous actually. When you mentioned tech billionaires I saw that clearly. I was specifically thinking of the narcissistic Elon Musk, but it applies to just about all of them. Indeed, many equate achieving (and not always in the self-made sense) with someone being wise and worthy of cultish devotion (no one is worthy of cultish devotion If somehow I become a cult hero, I want everyone to dispense with that). I think we can also be guilty of the opposite of the halo: disagreeing with someone about one thing, and then writing them off entirely. Under the seemingly abandoned concept that two things can be true, just because we like or dislike one thing about a person, doesn't mean we have very different thoughts and feelings about other aspects of them. Have a wonderful holiday season, and Happy/Merry anything you specifically celebrate.

Well, looks like @unclephilly might have Halo Effect syndrome being on some other course?? Anywho! Never heard of this effection. 😊 In my day they called it "Romance" that's gone too far perhaps. As I claim RUSH as my favorite band it was sparse listening between ROLL THE BONES and SNAKES AND ARROWS do to Life. You know a fun one to do might be PIGS,,, THREE DIFFERENT ONES by Pink Floyd or specifically Roger Waters. Great presentation Nena! MERRY Christmas 🎄🎁⛄☃️❄️ To You And Yours! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎🤟🏼🎸
