Rush "The Spirit of Radio": New!!! Drums!!!

I'm alive!!! After not playing for more than two months due to a back injury, I'm finally back behind the kit. Rusty but happy! So, here's to celebrate a remake of one of the most known Rush songs. Not perfect but at this point, I'm just glad to be able to play! Enjoy!

Practicing is important to develop good technique but listening to lots of music, understanding what is going on, and stay humble in your quest of becoming of better musician are all important as well. And don't worry, we all started by playing simple beats.... It will all come together with time and perseverance. Good luck!

when hitting the 3 cymbals around 2:25 would it sound different if hitting only 1 of those cymbals the same as hitting all 3 cymbals? I'm wondering if you're hitting those for convenience or is the sound of each slightly different?

This is the main groove pattern played on the ride cymbal. This is the famous Neil Peart pattern that he played on more than a dozen Rush songs.

All the cymbals sound different, in tone, pitch and length of decay. It's often very subtle and hard to hear but it's there.

Thank you! To duplicate Rush, you need to play with lots of power so this is part of the display of energy I guess. Neil used to display a lot of energy as well in the past, much more so than in the recent years.
