Marantec Opener Remote Program - How to program the 1st remote into models M4500 & M4700 openers

My M4500 remotes stopped working after a power outage. These instructions worked, all good there. I just wanted to add some symptoms that might further indicate you have lost your pairing. On the interior garage door button: 1. The quick tap to turn on lights was not working. 2. The lighted button was rapid flashing. After re-pairing the remotes, the interior buttons once again behaved normally as well.

I'm not sure what you mean by a different code. Each button on the remote typically has different codes unless they've been changed so both buttons are coded the same and work with the same operator. I'm assuming you have one 2-button remote and two Marantec operators. If that's the case then you can program the top button to one operator and follow the same instructions to program the bottom button to the 2nd operator.

There can be different ways to program different makes of vehicles but if your vehicle is equipped with Homelink you can try the following: For first time training, press and hold the two outer HomeLink® buttons in your vehicle, releasing only when the HomeLink indicator light begins to flash after 20 seconds. (Do not perform this step when training the additional HomeLink buttons.) Position the hand-held transmitter 1-3 inches away from the HomeLink surface (usually located on your visor, overhead console, or mirror), keeping the HomeLink indicator light in view. Using both hands, simultaneously press and hold both the desired HomeLink button and hand held transmitter button. DO NOT release until the HomeLink indicator light flashes slowly and then rapidly. When the indicator light flashes rapidly, both buttons may be released. (The rapid flashing indicates successful training.)

Do new remotes come with their own unique frequency? I want to purchase a new remote but I don’t have an exiting one to transfer from.. am I good to go just programming the new remote or is there a reset process first?

You're good to go. Every remote has a unique code. If you don't have any existing remotes and you purchase a new Marantec remote then you will program that remote directly into the operator as shown in the video. If there was a remote previously programmed to the operator then that old remote code will be knocked out of the operator memory and replaced with the code of the new remote. If that old remote was lost or stolen then it will no longer work with the operator so you won't have to worry about someone having that old remote gaining access to your garage.

Do you have a Marantec remote that works with the operator? If not, then you'll need to program a remote into the operator first. After you program the remote into the operator, you can then use that remote to program the Homelink button in your vehicle. I finally contacted the manufacturer, said: It's an old Marantec before 2005, the frequency (4MHz) is not working with homelink. There is an accessory (comes with a remote) to be purchased, plugged into a power outlet and connect the cable to the operator to change the frequency to 315MHz, then it'll work with homelink. This seem to be the only solution for those who have the same situation. Your link has the documents says the same. I just felt the accessory (75424) receiver attaching to the operator is a bit clumsy, and have not taken the action doing it yet. Thanks again for your reply!

Yes, if your vehicle is equipped with Homelink then you'll need a working remote to program the vehicle. The Homelink in your vehicle will basically clone the code from the remote. - Brian

Sorry but I'm not sure I understand the question. This video shows you how to program a remote to the operator. If you're asking about erasing the code of the remote and programming a new code into the operator then watch this video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rajSlJuAbKhjjrM After you watch that video and change the code on the remote then come back to this video and watch how to program it into the operator with a new code. The old code that was stored in the operator will no longer be active. I hope that answers your question. If not, then feel free to ask a follow up question.

I have a Marantec M4700, I bought a new remote, programmed it to the opener but it won’t work. The light on the opener rapidly flashes like it’s receiving the signal from the remote but it won’t open or close the door. If I open the garage door from the wall remote then press the new remote when it’s part way up, the door will stop so I know it’s getting a signal but that’s all the remote will do. Just stop the door and not move it up or down.

Did you purchase a Marantec brand remote or was it a knock-off type remote found on Amazon? That may make a difference. Does the wall station button have a solid glowing light or a slowly blinking light? If it is slowly blinking then that means the Vacation button is engaged on the wall station, which locks out the remotes, and that should be turned off. When you were programming the remote, did you get the #7 to flash rapidly when you pressed the remote button and then press the P button to save the code in the memory?

I have a PDS 4700. I followed until step 5. I held the remote button and saw the garage head number 7 flashing quickly. I pressed P again. But the remote still didn't open and close the garage door.

Did you confirm that the radio receiver is 315MHz frequency? Is the remote you are trying to program a Marantec branded remote (or is it a generic/knock off brand)? If you do have a 315MHz receiver and Marantec remote then you might want to pull the receiver out, wait a minute, reinstall the receiver and then try programming the remote again.

@@Garagedoorzone yes, I pulled out the receiver and plugged it back in. It does say 315Mhz. The remote I purchased also says 315Mhz. I could actually pair them like when I held the remote button the garage head light (number 7) kept flashing. Then I pressed "P" again to finish. The remote still didn't work afterward.

Usually that indicates that the remote is a different frequency than the radio receiver or the radio receiver is bad. Depending on which model of operator you have you should find the receiver in a slot on top of the operator. Make sure that the frequency printed on the back of the remote (and it has to be a Marantec remote) is the same frequency that's printed on the radio receiver. If they're not the same then it won't work. If the frequencies are the same then most likely the receiver is bad. If you have a Synergy model operator or a M4500e or 4700e (note the "e" on the end of the model number) then you can still get a replacement receiver. If you have a model that is older than that then you'll need to add an external radio receiver like the Marantec 75424 Receiver Set. Beautiful. Your description is very precise. I have a M4500e operating at 315MHz. The new remote I purchased was at 304MHz. This resolved my original problem where the new remote does not show rapid flash. Since then I have found one of the original working remote. My question now is how to clone the other remotes(315MHz). Should I use the receiver to set the new remote or use the three prong to copy the code over?

@@williamchou2277 The operator holds the code for ONE remote. If you wish to add additional remotes then you will use the 3-prong programming connector to transfer the code from the programmed remote to the additional remote(s).

@@Granitelion Sorry I'm still a little confused. Are you talking about the PIN number for a wireless keypad mounted on the outside door jamb? If that's the case and you have a Marantec operator with a 315MHz frequency radio receiver then you'll need a remote that is programmed to the operator in order to program the keypad (that's just how Marantec openers work).

Lost my only remote! UGH! Followed instructions but the new remote wouldn't open the garage door. I have 4500e and 315 MHz. After #7 flashes, I click the top button of the new remote and it lights up with 3 quick blinks. # 7 quickly fIashes and pressed P again. Then tried to use the new remote, but nothing happens. I don't think it's taking the code.

Mine looks like it accepts the code and blinks rapidly, then I press P to go back to operating mode, then when I press the remote I can see the signal #7 led blink rapidly on the operator when I press but nothing happens. Would the remote cause this especially when I can see there is signal transmission, but it does not open or close.

Make sure the Vacation Button on the wall control is not engaged. Look at the red led light on the wall button - if it's glowing solid that's normal but if it's slowing blinking then that means the Vacation function is engaged & the remotes won't work. It's hard to say if it's a remote issue or an operator issue since you don't have a Marantec remote. We've gotten numerous emails from people who have purchased the knock-off remotes from Amazon & have had problems programming them. The issue could be if the remote is not manufactured properly to the correct radio frequency then it's not going to work with the operator. The red light on the operator may blink indicating that it's receiving a signal but it could be the wrong frequency. It could also be that the remote wasn't programmed into the operator properly but you mentioned that the #7 blinked rapidly when you were programming it. It sounds like we may have to purchase some of these knock-off remotes and do some testing with them & put out a video.......

i followed the instructions but it didnt work. I bought a house and the owners said they lost the remote, i bought a remote and it had instructions to erase the factory code which I did. So now what do I do. Mine didnt react with 3 lights lit...all the lights lit, then each time i pressed it it rotated one number at a time til I got to 7, then I pressed the remote button but nothing flashed. it is a 315....stuck

People have had issues with the knock off remotes working sometimes. So either there's an issue with the remote you purchased or the radio receiver is not working. You can try pulling the radio receiver out and then pushing it back into the slot. Then try programming the remote again. If the knock off is listed as a replacement for Marantec (and not a "universal" remote) and the light doesn't flicker on the operator then I would lean towards it being a bad receiver.

If the LED light button that glows red behind the button on wall control station is slowly blinking then that means the Vacation Button is on and that any remotes programmed to the operator will not open the door. If that's the case then turn the Vacation Button off.

The operators only hold one code in their memory so there are 3 ways you can go about changing the code. 1. Program a new remote to the operator. This will knock the old code out & program the new code. 2. Use the 3-prong programming connector to change the code on an existing remote & then program that remote into the operator. You can watch a video on how to do that here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rajSlJuAbKhjjrM 3. If the 2nd (or bottom) button on the remote doesn't currently operate the garage door opener then you can program that button into the operator. It will memorize that code and any old codes (remotes) that worked the opener will no longer work. So if you have a 3-prong connector then you can use method #2 but if you don't then use #3. If the bottom button is programmed to the operator then you'll need to get a 3-prong connector or a new remote to change the code.

Sorry to hear that. If you have a Marantec 315MHz frequency remote and you've confirmed that the operator has a 315MHz frequency radio receiver and the operator won't accept the code of the remote then most likely the radio receiver is bad and needs replaced.
