same here, I'm in the market for a synthesizer to use as I study music (I also produce), and I got annoyed at the fact that my current setup requires that I open a daw to hear anything, plus there's delay between hitting the notes and the daw processing it. So I have decided to look at hardware synths, and this one just has really great sound. If I could afford an FA-06 I would totally do it but this looks more than capable for at least a decade. Also does anyone know if the DS61's keys are at least semi weighted?

I just bought the Juno ds88 and I love it. I wanted some fine piano sounds for my studio and a good feeling keyboard. I also needed good sounds pads etc for songs. this has it all for me. I was tired of synth keypads and wanted to improve my playing. I also didn't want all the bells and whistles of the fa series. I love the simplicity of this machine and love the sounds. Thanks for the videos....now how do we download those extra sounds....

Just a little FYI: On my Juno DS 61, in order for me to get to the subcategories in the DS, section, I have to tab over to the 1001 tab (ex: main panel for Piano. Right at the top there is "DS" and "1001", I have to tab over to the "1001" then press enter to get to the DS subcategories. If I don't, when pressing right curser, it takes me to the other instruments. Truly enjoying my Roland Juno DS 61. Great tutorial. Thanx loads. Looking forward to watching the others.

Hi Ed, I watched most of your videos. Thanks for all the info. Can you please elaborate a bit on the top left section where there are modes? e.g. If I keep the selection to the first row of the mode, and change the MFX cntrl, it seems like it is only changing one parameter. What about the other parameters of a patch? I can change it using the patch edit button but is there a way to quickly change using this MFX ctrl knob? Also, please elaborate how to use assign 1, 2 etc. in the third row. Thanks

Hi! Just bought a XPS-30, and those videos helped me alot. I'm trying to configure my "Assing Knobs", but im finding it kinda difficult, as i'm not understanding very well how to set up like, a flanger on knob 3. On the manual, it says it has a lot of types of effects, but when i enter the edit menu, under Knob tab, most of the "CC" are like these> "cc90( )". I was able to set up a Phaser on my assing knob 1, but somehow it does not change the sound so much, like some of the presets have their phaser... what am i doing wrong? Thanksssssss

Not only is the Juno-DS simple to use, its hammered action on the 88-key version of the Juno-DS feels so realistic to that of an acoustic piano because when you release the keys, they have a bouncy movement which emulates an acoustic piano's action, which I can only describe as an "ocean wave feeling in the keys". The RD2000 does not have that kind of action nor does the Fantom8. I have neither tried the RD88 nor the SV2 yet. Other keyboards that have that "ocean wave feeling" (that I've played on) when you release the keys are: MX88, PX-S1000/-S3000, ES110, P-45, P-125. I don't like that "fastened and tight" action like the one the Kronos, Kross2, Krome-EX, RD2000 have. The CP300 has an outstanding action.

Prefer mod wheels to the "paddle". I blend in effects, octaves, strings, pads, other sounds, many uses for the mod wheel. Cant hold a paddle in position and use 2 hands on the synth. Wastes a hand... If that isn't your concern, this is a nice synth

The bell sounds are within the Keyboard/Organ category however there are 26 bell sounds between patch KY075 and KY101 and then there are a others scattered through the category. You could always create a favourites list and stick all your bell sounds in there?

Questions: 1) How long do the rechargable batteries last on this keyboard? 2) Does it have MIDI sequencer option? (how many minutes long and how many tracks per song?) I'd like to record 3 minute-midi tracks on the USB flash drive so I can send them to my PC Cubase later, is that possible?

@thephoenixchant
@thephoenixchant 3 жыл бұрын
@@ivanquinoyog422 I think unlike the FA-06, the Juno has no MIDI sequencer. It is more of a keyboard with cool sounds to play live. It can run on batteries but I don't know how long these last. The built-in audio interface is only useful if you don't use VST sounds together with the JUNO DS sounds. But you can always play the midi and record it with an audio cable right to your interface to combine Juno's sounds with VSTS and the Juno has great sounds. My advice is: If you want a keyboard to play in a band: Juno. If you want to bring a keyboard to take to your apartment on hollidays and start writing music without the need of a computer, the FA-06 is the best. If you want a portable keyboard to create songs on the go that can run on batteries get the Korg Koross 2, but it's hard to use, and don't expect Juno's DS sound quality.

Thinking of buying juno ds76. I’m not too creative with synths and pads whatsoever. Though i’d like to learn. I mostly play in salsa gigs and couple of jazz gigs. I’ve been playing with a Piaggero mostly cause of the light weight it has. But i saw this juno ds76 weights almost the same and has thousand more features. Features that though i wouldn’t use everytime, it’d make me more versatile whenever i get piano solo gigs, or duet gigs. Recommendations anyone? Also, as a Synth do i need to just amplify it with a speaker/amp and it’ll work or do i need to have a computer with me?

Thanks! OK, folks, especially gigging keyboardists; which keyboard like this one (DS-61) or a closely matched and priced competitor, would prove to be most useful on stage? In a live setting with a band, including a drummer? Kork Kross 2? Yamahaha? I think I would be happy with the sound of most of them; what about play-ability, changing bank/registers, on the fly adjustments, splits and layers and switching thereof, etc. Thanks for any useful info anyone can provide! Oh, and can I run my bass guitar through any of them? On several songs I swap back and forth, using the Right split and output for keys bass. Tone and volume I can match really well with my Casio, each going to the amp separately, but it would be nice to take both through the same effects chain.

@@bodbodii8654 I think it is a very nice keyboard to start with, so keep on saving for it! At 13 of 14 I worked Summers and saved up to by keyboards myself. The first one was Roland JX-8P and next Summer I poured all my Summer job money into the Roland D-50, and this was in the end of the 80s. Great keyboards both of them although I really did not now how to utilize them fully. I still have both of them today and after 10-15 years in the basement, I picked them out again and started exploring all the things I did not really get when I was a teenager. By the way, depending on where you live, you should be able to get a second hand Juno-DS 61 for around 400-500 euros.

Thinking of buying. Question: If you buy this, and use it with FL Studio for recording and such, is there any way to get the SOUNDS of the Juno DS, INSIDE FL Studio? Additionally I use a stereo receiver with Cerwin Vega speakers for audio, and I'm curious what the audio setup is with this Juno DS.

JUNO DS is pro level product, you shouldn't use it with consumer sound systems, at least not directly. Typically you connect pro equipment with pro speakers, though you can use 'Phones' jack to connect both consumer and pro headphones and small speaker systems (PC speakers). JUNO DS sound (stereo) can be recorded/sent digitally through USB connection (simplest way) or by involving AD/DA conversion (needs pro audio interface/mixer). If you are up to buying first pro keyboard in your life better find a guy who already own one and can show how things works.

@@alicaramba7680 I've been using a cheaper Midi Board for years. And I've been running FL Studio for 15 or so years to make music. My VS 120 cerwin vegas sound great for what they are, a gigantic rock speaker (though not as gigantic as my D9 vegas). I can't afford audiophile speaker that are loud enough to match my drum kit in volume while playing live. So that's why I use big loud Cerwin Vegas. The VS series are very nice and bright and clear, for what they are. You won't find a pro audio setup that will match in volume the levels you get from my D9s or VS 120s without spending SEVERAL thousand is the problem. I know because I've been to a good many high end audio places and sampled many a times.

@@alicaramba7680 As for complexity, that's certainly a thing of concern for me, as I've never used a live synth to do live synth things. I have a friend who has the DS 61, but he's presently 220km away. I've decided to hold off on any extravagant purchases for the time being. I did blow money on a decent set of double bass pedals for my drum kid and a decent hi hat. I needed those more than a new board.

It's a complete synthesizer. All the parameters are in the menu. Theres 256 memory storage for your own patches. You can edit from the menu or download the librarian/editor from Roland's website to use your computer for editing.

@@floridahiker1503 Lol synthesizers use knobs and switches... not stupid convoluted menus! I don't like modern synths for that very reason.

@@mootpoint7053 . I think the menus are intuitive and easy to navigate but your right on about knobs and sliders.

Does this board have decent Rhodes type EP's and how about the Tone Wheel Organ sounds and with that the rotary effect? None of the demos I have heard so far have yet to demonstrate that. Thanks!
