What a wonderfully meaningful conversation! I love it that Russell has NOTHING to contribute to the "How To" discussion of desires and goals; he knows it's a dead-end, superficial approach to deeper, mostly unacknowledged needs. Russell subverts the hollow normalcy that distracts us from our pain and therefore our salvation. Thank you Lewis, for inviting him for a chat! And thank you Russell, for showing us that cultivating emotional courage is the key to genuine contentment. It's your subversive emotional courage that I most admire, and you express it with such grace and lightness of spirit.

We live in a deterministic universe where past present and future all exist. We only experience the future as we pass through the dimension of time. Time is the essence of these experiences where we see the answers sometimes before the questions as time may not always be linear as we think it is. We therefore may catch a glimpse of the future out of context. This experience is making you aware to pay attention to these “coincidences “ in your life as signposts to your direction in life.

I understand the notion behind helping people without other people knowing, in order that we are not actually serving our egos, but I think it's important to let other people know that we do help so that we can Inspire others to do the same.
@Tatwamasi_Om Жыл бұрын
Yes. We should let our actions be the way which can inspire others, by living in alignment with higher principles. We don't need to explain what and why we are doing things. It won't help inspire change in others through speech, it is in action these ideas can be experienced.

Hi Russell, love , love, love ALL your talks, regardless of the subject matter . As a practicing Muslim, many if not most of your thought processes and values resonate with me...I suppose that is because spirituality is universal to all religions. Your 3rd point about service/charity is especially interesting- as Muslims we believe that one of the sincerest forms of charity is the one done secretly and without an expectation of gratitude from anyone. However, it’s to be combined with visible charity too in order to motivate or inspire others as your guest says. It’s all about the intention behind the action. If the action is done for worldly reasons it will not fulfil you spiritually. Looking forward to more of your enlightening talks.

This interview broke the wall of interviewing, in my mind, more than any one of the people you have talked to. When you two started discussing the challenges of learning languages it really just felt like a good conversation! My biggest take away: “...clearing away the barnacles of conditioning from the hull of who we are through self actualization.” The discussion of serving the thing you love also burned in my ears as it addressed the same concept in a book I’m currently listening to, “Big Magic” by Elizabeth Gilbert. Living a life as a creative, which, we are all creatives at something. She might be a good person to have on if you haven’t already. Thank you so much for the continued inspiration, Lewis!
