Brand is another grift-chasing charlatan. Awash we all are in them these days. The reason these guys bang on so hard about the vaunted “injustice” of the lockdowns is because political forces want to maintain the untenable notion that only the individual utterly free man (who is also somehow perfectly honest and responsible in all things) is real and that any thought or idea toward cooperative and selfless action is to be chastised and criticized in the starkest terms as a moral failing. Once everyone believes that way then it’s easier to sow and stoke rage against good ideas that save lives.

@tonywilson4713
@tonywilson4713 2 күн бұрын
I'm a Victorian living in Queensland and WA did the right thing. The rest of Australia pretty much did the right thing and it save lives and there's been a staggering number of LIES told before during and since. In Early 2024 Gigi Foster the infamous economics professor who said (early in the pandemic) that we should do the Swedish thing because the elderly and inform would die anyway said on ABC QandA _"At best Australia's lockdown saved 10,000 lives."_ Now there's a few things about that. FIRST - Gigi is NOT a never has been a health care expert and her claim to "just let them die" was met with scorn by other professors at her university the UNSW. SECOND - Simply saying to let 10,000 people die is sociopathic and a sign of mental illness. THIRD - AFTER Australia dropped its restrictions due (in part) to pressure from economists like Gigi Australia's death toll from COVID jumped from ~10,000 to over 20,000. FOURTH - She LIED about the number 10,000. Because I had gone to university in America I was watching the numbers closely via a website that had the entire World's official data. I'd heard Gigi and others make multiple claims about how we should be like Sweden. I knew the Swedish data and how their numbers were double or triple the other Nordic countries (Norway, Finland, Denmark). I also knew Sweden's numbers were much worse than Australia. At the time Gigi claimed it only saved 10,000 (at best) had we taken her advice and done the Swedish thing and based on the Swedish result we would not have had 20,000 dead but over 70,000. How she got away with that lie was she used the average fatality rate for the World NOT the fatality rate for Sweden. Neither Gigi Foster or any of the other LIARS like Russel Brand have ever been called out for their lies or held accountable for their actions in stirring up trouble that did result in lives being lost.

I never liked Brand and his "Oi'm jus' a naugh'y lad" shtick. His "genuineness" felt forced, contrived, and totally fake. And the fact he's still peddling it at age 50, even though he's a "good Christian" pushing right-wing propaganda, makes it even worse. The multiple rape allegations against him, as well as harassing Andrew Sachs (Manuel from Fawlty Towers) with a "prank call" bragging about having sex with his granddaughter, make Brand even more disgusting and vile.

I'm not quite sure how anyone fell for Russell Brand's shtick. Maybe it's because I'm a Brit who's old enough to have seen him when he first popped up on TV (on Big Brother's Big Mouth) and he was super creepy and irritating. Then I witnessed his first huge personality switch when he jumped headfirst into spiritualism, being politically conscious etc which seemed so disingenuous given how he'd been previously. It just seemed very convenient for his professional ambitions. Or maybe i just have a good BS detector.

Russell Brand was always a mor00n, shallow, idiotic grifter and a poseur. I like you guys, but really, to not see through him more than a decade ago, is not understandable for me. How could you fall for his bs?! He always gave an ignoramus & just shallow provocateur vibes! But it's not just him, the truth is that the majority of today's influencers/political commentators on KZbin or other social media are nothing but grifters who love the sound of their own voices & most often state the obvious while acting like they reinvent the wheel! The fact that young kids nowadays, and even older people, listen to these charlatans and think they are taking in some amazing, complex socio-political analysis and philosophy, is a depressing state of affairs. I'm from Poland, and in fact, I can't believe how many people all around the globe let themselves be influenced by these fools, not just Brand but Peterson, Shapiro, Candance Owens, and yes, some on the 'left' or more 'liberal' like Destiny too. I have one piece of advice for all of you: turn off the Internet, and start to spend more time in the real world, read books, and talk to real experts in real life, not through the screen, like people in various organizations, universities, etc. There are people smarter than online grifters everywhere around you; the difference is they don't want money for real smart things they say!

See, while i'm embarassed to have liked him a bit back in the day - he at least used to be a leftist. Hell, he had some full on anarcho-commie vibes at times - dude even had a book called "revolution" that was pretty explicitly anti-capitalist. He's made a complete 180 politically. My theory is he was aware the sexual abuse allegations were coming, and he also (rightly) assumed that right wingers would be *far* more forgiving of such actions than leftists, so he decided to go "all in" with them in a desperate bid to save his career. Whats sad is how many right wingers fell for it (all of whom probably would have called the guy horrible things 5 years earlier)

Makes me think of Glenn Beck. I believe Beck had a bad drinking problem and then got sober. The MyPillow guy, Mike Lindell, had said that he struggled with a crack addiction. It seems with certain types, sobriety is a catalyst for them to adopt this zealotry that centers their life. The drug/alcohol/substance they once revolved around is replaced by a certain fanaticism.

If you're a grifter it just make sense to grift to the right. They got more money, if you grift to the left it might make you more popular in some social scenes and improve your sex life but I think there is just less money. Russel being a sex addict did it right, he used to whatever he wanted when younger. than when older when he knows the times have changed and there will be some scandal. he swiched. They need his celebrity and validation, and he gets a new, richer audience who would defend him in any scandal as one of their own. The fact that he fills the need as one of them, is now one of ours, is worth millions itself.

Russell Brand has always been a malignant narcissist with a compulsive need to have a spot light on him 100% of the time. He began his career on the left but with the ascension of the far right on social media, being the cynical, calculating opportunistic grifter he is, switched sides after figured out it was much easier and more profitable to grift those on the right.

It’s funny how people in the U.S. can get caught up in a British accent, as if it automatically adds credibility. Russell Brand plays into that by throwing in phrases like ‘to put it eloquently,’ but when you strip away the theatrics, a lot of it is just fluff. The accent might make it sound more profound, but the content doesn’t always live up to it.”

Here in the U.K. he was shown up quite a while ago on T.V. shows regarding his 'ability' and 'intellect', using philosopher's ideas out of context, and words and phrases that even J Peterson might not use (not to mention suggesting he had sex with an elderly actor's v young daughter) The eyeliner, Jim Morrison-leather trousers and bouffant hair have been replaced by his 'Jesus'-style, but he's still a egoist who admits trump is racist and supports him in the video. "The institutional Kafkaesque bureaucrats that tried to destroy me"- I'll be honest. I must have missed that one.
