I love Russel’s 10 for a daily drinker. I can find them for under $25 near me which is a steal! For a few doll hairs more than WT101 and OF 86 and 100 it stands on top of those bottles every time.

I’ve always liked RR10, but not as much as other WT products. BUT, the last bottle I bought was exceptional! After I watched this video I realized it was from 02/22. So, I agree! The 2022 bottles are definitely exceptional!

Great show Jason. I just read an article about the flavor profile changes. I think it partly to lure more drinkers to an easy sipper rather than keep the bolder flavor. Just my two cents. I'm headed to Wild Turkey in a few weeks when my son turns 21! Hope to run into Mr. Bo Garrett when I'm down there. Cheers.

Great vid. I got a bottle 2 weeks ago and I am digging it. I like it even more with a few drops of water in it. I think that might 'open up' the flavors a bit more? It seemed to do that for me, but I'm no expert. I had no idea that they changed it. I just checked mine and it has the two LLs on the back. It's already up to $46 in my area and I would still probably buy another bottle when this one is gone.

And it's apparently become REALLY hard to find in a lot of areas. Happened to stop in a smaller store in our area and saw two bottles sitting on the shelf. And I'll admit, I was greedy and grabbed both of them, one of which is almost empty already (less than 10 days later).

Sub $30 bottle here in Kentucky and it is ALWAYS on my bar. Great affordable daily sipper. I have an old 101 that I love, I haven’t gotten around to the new 101 yet but it’s on my list.

I just opened a new RR 10 that I of course have to order from Alberta. I found the distinct leather note missing and I agree the older bottles seemed to have older Bourbo in there. Will continur buying though as it is only $40 Cad

Almost grabbed a new russels reserve store pick 10 year today....but they had 1 blood oath for 149. So i grabbed it and jack triple mash to give a whirl...since they had plenty of russels and only 2 jack triole mash....been hearing its hard to find and i wantrd to try it

I really enjoy Russell's 10. I have one pour left in my bottle, and I have my next bottle in reserve. My open bottle has the older LL code on it, but the new bottle has the date, 24/2/2022 on it. So I'm curious if I see any big discernable difference between the two

@@ckal_ they are very faint, on the back side of the bottle, opposite side of the label, at the very bottom on the curve itself. I coulnd't see them at all at first, I had to get them into a good light source for them to be visible.

Really interesting change to WT`s offerings. I`m like you in preferring a more spicy, oak forward profile, that`s why I like 101 ( old label ) better than anything else in it`s price bracket. I was fortunate enough to obtain at auction a barrel pick ( by Ryan Engen ) of the Russell`s Reserve barrel proof which is wonderful & a great competitor to the very best ECBP batches which I tend to gravitate to. I don`t want to lose that edginess I`ve got so used to with WT, but I`d never question that distillers quality.

I'm glad I watched this. I recently opened up R.R. 10 year and thought I got a bad bottle. It's a 2022/05 date and that's probably what I taste . So sad 🥃😭

Turkey Day!! It's interesting that there is some minor debate on 10 yr, that it's not as good as Russell's Reserve Single Barrel Barrel Select Bourbon, especially store barrel picks. Makes me wonder if there is some flavor drift, or if older barrels are running low. Your point of RR 13 might be spot on. IMO, the sweeter profile appeals to me. And if it only takes bourbon that is aged between 10 and 12 years, I am all for it.

Dang didn't even realize this was a thing. I don't often think about changes in these types of brands that aren't specifically marketed as a special release at certain points in the year. Plus the bottle design didn't change as it did for WT101. I just looked at the bottle I bought two months ago and it's the older batch and only ran $25! Maybe that's why? I should go check that store again to see what they have now because I can't believe I was finding Russel's 10yr for $25.

By the code on the back of the bottle near the bottom. The new codes have an actual date, the old codes starts with a couple letters like "LL".

You need to do a DoubleBass blind with Russell's 10 year and Eagle Rare 10 year. I have and have always preferred Russell's, but now the new Russell's is so close to Eagle Rare it's hard to tell the difference they are so close. I gave the nod to Russell's because of the buttery sweat note on the front of the palette was a slightly more than Eagle Rare and the oak note finish on Russell's was a tad better but so close. I'd like to hear your thoughts

I checked my Rare Breed bottle which was densely sweet tonight (against Stellum Black in a blind) and its code was from earlier this year. Perhaps your intuition is correct in that WT is trending toward less funk and more sweet from now on.

I love turkey, but not gonna lie, the new 101 tastes WAY younger to me than the old one. It used to be my favorite daily drinker, now its nothing more than a mixer for cocktails. I really hope my next bottle of Russell's 10 is still good.

I've heard other people on KZbin trash RR 10 year old and honestly I feel like a can no longer even trust their reviews because of my experience with it. I have 2 bottles sitting on my shelf right now that I pick up and drink over $60 bottles. My wife bought both bottles for $35 a piece. I live in Lexington Kentucky. I don't know what batch I have but I think it's great. I've never bought a bad bottle of RR. I don't have any older bottles sitting around to compare my new bottles to. I think my experience with RR is pretty close to yours. It's hard to beat for $35.

I like the RR10 a lot. One of my gripes/wishes is that it were 100 or 101 proof instead of 90. Now I learned that it was 101 proof. Why did they lower it? It would be killer at 101!

Compared to other Russell’s Reserve products I was not impressed with 10 year at first. It drank slightly hot and had little of the sweet character that I expected. After letting it sit for two or three months after that first glass it is a whole new bourbon. That neck pour thing is really a deal with this one.

I’m new into bourbon and haven’t found many i honestly hated. I HATE this bourbon. I like eagle rare, blanton’s, but my go to has been WT rare breed and OF120. I really like weller 107. I also am not a fan of 1792 small batch at all. I had watched several videos before going out to buy 10 bourbons or so so this is my take so far in the journey for what it’s worth.
