That being said, he was doing very well as a starter. However, when the Clippers realized having 4 ball dominant players inna starting lineup wasn't meshing well, Westbrook became the bigger person and opted to coming off the bench, which reduced his impact and significance drastically. Clippers wanna d-ride Harden so much, that Russell's minutes and stats were regressing alot. They coulda easily bought Harden off the bench, but they saw him as a more valuable player to prioritize and focus on, completely disregarding Russ.

Just hoop would have worked on the lakers if he played Point Gaurd……the lakers keep getting point gaurds knowing Lebron has to bring the ball up. No true point gaurd is going to fully fit because now they are spot up shooters. Same reason DLo doesn’t fit. Chris Paul won’t fit, Trae young won’t fit….i can keep going because these dudes, like Russ, are point guards and facilitate offense. The lakers will make any PG into a spot up shooter. The nuggets biggest issue has been: Jamal Murray is the slowest PG in the nba getting past the half court in the NBA statistically for the last 5 seasons. Then we have no other ball handling. If you go back and watch the Wokves series, we didn’t get into our 1st sets until there was 10 seconds on the clock. In the read and react offense with Jokic, we needed to get into sets faster to “read and react”. Then, our bench hasn’t had any identity in the last 5 seasons. Now we have a focal point to start on offense and an actual PG to lead. Russ attitude is goin to be infectious. Our culture is perfect currently. We can harness his attitude in a different way than other teams . This could be the Russ redemption arc, just another incredible story in the Jokic era. I think this is low-key going to be the sleeper trade of the off-season. He comes in able to play in multiple roles. He can be a starter or he can lead the 2nd group. The question is how Christian Braun develops during the pre-season workouts. If he gets comfortable with the big four then Denver will go with that. Otherwise, Russ could slide into that 2nd guard taking turns with Murray bringing the ball up. Having him be the first guard coming off the bench for either Murray or Braun could work really well also.

Good intro. Good questions too. I hope you guys are right. I hope RW still has some of that greatness we loved so much. I'm afraid that he's about done at this point - but I'll subscribe to what you're saying. I HOPE that I'm wrong. But either way - RW will not fix Denver Issues. Denver Nuggets, right now, are not a true contender. Nuggets Owners (Kroenkes), GM (Booth), Front office (bunch of incompetent nepotism hires) - simply destroyed Jokic's chances to win another chip, and betrayed the Nuggets fans. Few weeks ago: Josh Kroenke: "when you have the best player on the planet, you have to go for it" Booth: "I'm the steward of Jokic's prime". End result: Nuggets lose KCP and bring in Saric and maybe-westbrook. That's "going for it", that's "stewarding Jokic's prime". Kroenke and Booth flat-out LIED. They even got caught lying about offering KCP an extension. Nuggets never had a decent backup center, a decent backup handler/creator, and a backup 3&D wing (BB was a brief exception). Never. Nuggets NEVER had even a mediocre 2nd unit. Never had a real "all-star" next to Jokic either. Last season - roster was much worse than when they won the championship, this season the roster is even worse than that. Now - here's the piece for you guys to talk about: The reason for this debacle is that Kroenkes are preparing to sell Nuggets and are in the talks about it for about 12 months now (last 4 months talks are "productive"). Kroenkes priority is cost control, limiting liabilities and obligations, and giving the next owners "space" under the aprons. Last two seasons look pretty on the books - full arena, revenue almost doubled, brand expansion... And Kroenkes know this is the moment to sell. Prettying the bottom line and offloading Nuggets for a huge profit. And that's the whole story. That's it. BTW - don't ask me how I know this - as these talks are held in strict confidence since they started. But it's true. I hope that Jokic's mgmt team (Raznjatovic) and Jokic himself are aware of it - I know messages were passed to them. And I hope that they trust it - and will f*k Kroenkes in their greedy a**es. By simply demanding a TRADE. Let's see how their "bottom line" is gonna look then.

@bc_qbeval oh I'm aware. I'm not a Brick fan. I'm just pointing out that the guy is anemic to any kind of organized basketball. Only way this works is if they put the ball in WB's hands and let him go to work. It won't lead to playoffs wins and he'll likely continue his streak of first round exits since he was in OKC save for his year in Houston. But regular season? Eh. 50/50.

Russ it's going to be a great role player 20 mins a game easy double double machine especially with all the bigs at Denver.

he will play like will barton. excellent pocket cutter, come off the bench and make Some Shake. would love to See him play there

Russ needs to be on a team he can run. Outside of his time in OKC Wizards Russ was amazing, even when KD left he was amazing solo in OKC. Russ is better when he’s running the show. Wizards or Jazz would be good for him, I love Russ but as a contender you aren’t gonna win a chip with him, he has to be that guy, if he’s willing to come off the bench maybe it could work

Lakers never didn’t like Russ for strictly his play it was the fact bro was making 47 million and refused to take a pay cut to help the team. Now Russ for the minimum we’ll take that anyday of the week

The fans got tired of him. At some point he would grab the ball and the whole staple center would scream “don’t shoot “
@TheForkOnTheLeftist6 ай бұрын
nah the fans didn't like him because he kept getting a bunch of turnovers and shooting 3s. In his defense that's the stupid gameplan the Lakers have been running and not his fault he couldn't play to his strengths

As long as he has the ball in his hands n not in lebrons or hardens hands he’s still a triple double threat he was taken out of his element since he left the wizards
