Russell Westbrook has hit a new low for the Lakers, he has become the worst finisher in the NBA by the stats and by the eye test. #Westbrook #Lakers #NBA
Tech Channel- / @alldaystudio6479
Twitch- / mjallday2k
No Westbrook, no one is expecting you to average 25, 15, 15. We just don’t want you to hurt the team, that’s all.
But worst of all, there was a twitter spaces where at first, everyone was dissecting the game and Russ’s horrible performance, talking about Russ being a bad decision makers, can’t make a shot and then Russ’s brother joined the space and this happened.
I see your point? What in the d riding is this?* He really countered that with who is keeping track? They really gonna just bend over because his bro in the call? Players can perform badly and we can call em out on it just like when they can also perform well and we praise it. Saying Russ got no turnovers when this is his statline and they lost is dumb. What’s even crazier is that the host admitted it.
Man was an MVP a few years ago and I’m not taking away from that, I’m talking about here and now.
*Now I’ve made a couple videos on Russ as the season has progressed, the ups and downs, but I was wrong on one thing*
He’s shooting 50% from the paint, which is still not great, even with the stretch of 10 games with him shooting 50% from the field and 42% from 3. These past 3 games, he’s shot 20% from the field, multiple missed layups, it’s gotten out of hand but yes the turnovers are also down.
I don’t even care about the midrange at this point. The backboard’s gonna break, screw it. But now defenses are legitimately leaving him open and guarding other players.
I wanna go back to what that one individual said on spaces. About Westbrook being 29th out of 35th all guards in efficiency despite leading all guards in field goals attempted in the paint.
Westbrook is 6th in the NBA in field goals attempted less than 5 ft. More than Ja, Jokic, KAT. Yet he’s second to last in field goal percentage among all NBA players averaging more than 5 field goal attempts under 5 feet. High volume low efficiency, lowest efficiency, it’s an actual problem.
This impacts the rest of his game because if he’s not making layups, he’s not a scoring threat. And if he’s not a scoring threat, defenses can leave him which means he can get baited into bad shots or take shots that just aren’t good.
LeBron is not averaging more points because of Russ. He’s averaging more points in spite of Russ. I’m happy that LeBron is doing what needs to be done to win instead of trying to do a bit of everything. What sucks is that this team needs all that to still lose.
Rather LeBron is having to do even more just to keep the Lakers at 500. They’ve experimented with LeBron at center, LeBron at point guard. He has the 4th highest usage rate in the league in the past 10 games, higher than Kevin Durant I’m not gonna say LeBron needs more help, he designed this. Man is really going through it right now.
Forget the analytics for just a second, forget the bad shooting, finishing, I’ll even forget the turnovers. Forget the scoring, forget the inconsistent playmaking, forget the plus minus, everything else should be ok right? Right?
I wish. Analytics isn’t able to capture timely baskets, momentum swings, the important little things that lead to wins. Well how about this, Russ is on the court while the Lakers are making their run against the Kings and they go from down 12 to 6. But here’s how the Lakers finish the quarter out.
The Lakers are a +2.2 with Westbrook but remember I said to forget analytics. Because in important moments of games, Westbrook ends up making more mistakes than production. Whether that is leaving defensive assignments open, turning the ball over, taking boneheaded shots, it actually leads to losses and collapses.
Ok back to the defense, Russ is legitimately not playing defense. He is leaving people open, playing roamer without actually getting steals in the passing lane. He’s not running back on defense, essentially the effort part of Russ is gone on the defensive end. Whether it’s the +2.5% field goal percentage when defended by him or the lapses in judgement at the end of games. It’s all bad.
Again, I want Russ to do well, I want him to ball out, I think most fans have wanted that for a while, but each year our expectations get lower and lower, and it keeps getting worse and worse. And now if Russ can’t make layups, it’s back to the drawing board. But what do you think? How far can the Lakers go?

Leaving RW wasn't what pissed people off. It was him going to GS. A team that had already broken the regular season win record and won a title. And GS never would have been able to sign KD if it wasn't for the giant unprecedented cap spike due to the new TV deal that year. That part isn't KD's fault tho. The cap should have been escalated more slowly, but the players union wanted all the money now now. That meant the majority of teams could pretty easily free up space for a max contract, unlike most years where only a handful can. If KD had left for basically any other team, he would not have been criticized. I mean there's always criticism when a star leaves, but his departure wouldn't still be talked about to this day. The destination was the problem.

Russ doesn’t need to be motivated anymore because we justified his play style by giving him all the praise in his 2016-17 MVP run. He got the max contract, he got the praise for all his stat padding in triple doubles, he got the MVP. And we ignored his inefficient shooting, his lack of defense, and his high turnover rate because he got a triple double. If he can switch to a one motion shot, make better shot selections, and be more mindful of his finishing, he might survive in this league. But that’s asking a lot for any player, much less Russ.

Think that this year's ball seems to bounce more of secondary hits, i.e. be more "plastic" and less "elastic" than the previous one.. Doesn't seem to carry as much initial momentum, gets deflected further and changes path more drastically from even slightest rim deflections, and perhaps maybe carry more reverse horizontal momentum when hitting the glass (compared to the previous one) It also seems to be heavier cause "glazing" the rim barely seems to do anything to it's path as well, which makes it hard for "bounces" to self-adjust for decent strokes to become a score, it has to be done near perfect otherwise it will bounce out/back :P Some other players (Luka comes to mind) also struggled royally to figure this out I think, but I'm simply stifled how Russ didn't even ATTEMPT to realise that he might need to consider a slight change in technique on the drives/layups tbh, it's been 40 games and he still bricks layups due to the higher reverse momentum that the ball has That being said, perhaps a practice session or two with a Pumpkin might help :D

BRO Lakers need to trade Westbrook for whatever they can, he’s a net negative at this point. And tbh if they don’t think they can win a chip don’t waste Bron last years of his career like this trade him to an actual contender. Bron gonna be the first 40 year old to score a 20 point triple double
@JD-fh9kv
@JD-fh9kv 2 жыл бұрын
In case you might not notice, Nobody wants Westbrook that's why they can't trade him. They're not trading him not because they don't want to, it's because why would any team want something like that from Russ? You know what I mean? No team would want something like that.

bruh this is what i've been saying. westbrook fan always look at highlight and thinks muscle and being fast > crafty and high IQ finish in the paint. this late into his career he still have no floater game and his pull up jumpshot is getting worse at everywhere.

Now, firstly I agree. Russ is seriously failing the Lakers. I like how you said take away a series of things, which left me to asks "what is left, lol". Russ has always been a liability on defense, only covered in part through his once elite athletic ability. Since this is waning, coupled with the bad habits formed through his exploits with "triple doubles", it has cratered off a cliff. I am not a Lebron fan, I appreciate his final place amongst the greats but yeah miss me fan boys, with that said, even I feel for him suffering through Russ Westbrook. As for Anthony Davis with "i have nothing else left to prove" really? Again another reason even I feel for the King. How in Gods name are you to win with that lack level of competitive fire on your team. These jokers are suffering from the Dwight Howard syndrome. Kobe was right. He is an absolute waste. He is about the lifestyle, nothing wrong with that, except that does not mesh well at all with those in the pursuit of greatness and excellence. "The sun will rise tomorrow" another quote from Westbrook, seriously. I repeat again, this is a statement in fact obviously but the bigger picture is, it doesn't seem to bother you if you win lose or draw, and as result we see it reflected in the play. I mean seriously, even at open runs, people are pissed personally when they turnover the ball, this joker with double digit turnovers, "I'm allowed to turnover the ball", he couldn't be on my team much longer I could tell yuh that.

I understand now. We hated Ben Simmons so much for lacking self confidence to even shoot. And we all know that he lost it due to his belief that he could no longer shoot the ball. Now imagine a player who can't shoot the ball either, but has all the confidence in the world. Yep, that's Westbrook for you guys. An uber confident Ben Simmons.

I expect Russ at this point to put up a calm and easy 15 points, a couple of assists maybe 6 per, and no more than 3 turnovers per games. Is that too much to ask from a guy who is supposed to be the third option?
