Absolutely Denver was the problem, not Wilson. He has proved that! I think if they go deep into the playoffs, he will re-sign with the Steelers at below-market price. He knows what hell looks like after the Denver experience. He's found a quality home like he had in Seattle and actually has a chance to get a few more SB rings and cement his admission to the HOF, too!

The Steelers better sign Russ to an extension! He is only going to get better and more comfortable with the offense. He only has played 7 games and he leads the league in 15+ passing yards. This women is clueless to say she doesn’t think Russ deserves to be at Pittsburgh 😂.

Russ wants titles not money 💰!! He is at the end of his career and he’s all in with Mike Tomlin. He is a student of the game and so is coach Mike T. Not everyone wants a bag of money! If Russ goes anywhere else his career is over. He has everything he needs they just need to play together longer. When GP was out they still passed the ball around to everyone! They a top tier organization starting from ownership. They will make the best decision possible to win.

I'm a Steelers fan who wants Justin Fields for the future, but Russ has got his chefs 🧥 coat back. I want the Steelers to resign both, get russ for a 2-3 year deal, for 55 million. And give Justin Fields a 5 year deal for 60 mill. I believe thats a fair market value and we can continue to develop Justin Fields for the future just like the 49ers did with Montana and Steve Young.

@@perryellis1423 QB market is $55m. There’s no way they’re paying Russ under $30m and that’s a discount. I think he’ll take $35m on a 4 year $140m and retire an steeler.

@Rushwankerr keep in mind his age is the only obstacle for negotiation on that number , 4 years is too many and 140 mill is too high when they have a younger player available in Justin Fields. This is why I set the numbers for a short term deal. The Steelers are a win now team but the window for Cam TJ, Minkah is short so Russ has to win now within this year which I believe the Steelers will this season. Also the Steelers have to resign Najee, Pickens and Justin how much money will we have left plus the Steelers need to make a decision on Dan Moore. He will cost this team money to keep him also. So Russ has to be willing to work with the Steelers or find himself in another bad situation like Denver, that being said, Pittsburgh is a better choice for Russ at this stage, so he would be smart to take less and win let's say two Superbowls to end his career. Or go and get paid big money for a lesser organization like the Browns

@@perryellis1423Russ is the same age as Kirk Cousins no way he takes less than 30m per year at something like 3 years with close to 50m guaranteed. If he wins a playoff game and looks good in the playoffs someone will offer him 50m per year and close to 100m guaranteed.

@ChrisH421 let's not compare Russ contract money to Kirk Cousin please because we all know why Kirk Cousin was paid hi, and it wasn't for his skills, the NFL wants to keep the QB position white, so they over pay any white QB without reason. Cousins, Trevor Lawrence, Daniel Jones , the guy who plays with the saints and Aaron Rodgers, all these QBs have one thing in common they're washed and they're white and highly paid. Russ can't be on a championship team and get big money it won't work for him with the Steelers, you're acting like the Steelers are a bad franchise, they're not, they have good players who must be paid as well. This is why Russ either stays and takes less or he can price himself right out of a good situation for his remaining career.

Funny how you never hear them talk about how Aaron Rodgers or Kirk Cousins need to be humbled. Being humbled and being dehumanized are two different things. He was dehumanized in Denver, and the media was fed false narratives about his abilities AND his character that they are still trying to push. Many in the media have a real hate boner for him. The last thing they wanted to see was Russell have a resurgence after they spent 2 years burying him. The difference is he now has a coach who doesn't see his success, wealth, and good image as a threat, embraces him for who he is, and treats him with respect. Tomlin chose not to believe the media narratives and it paid off.

Russ is exact same age as Kirk Cousins who got 45M a year deal. Derek Carr got close to 40M but these clowns saying Russ should be grateful for 20-30M. Of course these are the same ppl who never thought he could still play in first place, so it shouldn’t surprise me.

I think Russ has come to the point in his career where solidifying his legacy takes priority over a big contract. He’s found himself back in an good organization and city. And winning big in the postseason is more realistic giving the existing culture along with the staff and personnel. He will take a team friendly deal to stay in Pitt and will be starting again next year. Also with all do respect to JF, there’s no way I start him over Russell if I’m looking to win it all. Fans love his legs and “upside” but the Russell led offense is what truly has the lowest floor AND the highest ceiling. There’s many stats you can look at but most importantly he’s averaging 28 ppg. And when you use your eyes he’s in complete command in a way JF won’t for awhile. Let Justin learn and if he really wants the starting job unfortunately I’d let him walk. Letting Russ go, especially with a deep playoff run, would be a complete disservice to the players in their prime that have been ready to win now.

Well, they're only paying him a million to begin with. I would offer him $30M for two years with $15 guaranteed and a team option for the 2nd year. He'll likely want $40M with $30 guaranteed over three years. Two things players want: a long-term, guaranteed contract. It provides them with some stability. It's easy for Russ to say he wants to play until age 40 but I think it's realistic to get 2 more very good years out of him with a coach like Mike. Russ knows he hit the lottery with Mike. At this stage of his career, that relationship with his coach is huge. You're at that, "I'm a grown @$$ man stage," and when you have someone like Sean Payton talking to you like you're a rookie or one of his kids, it takes a lot of restraint not to cuss that !$@# out!

I don't see him taking a cut from the $1M. However, he'll definitely take a cut from both salaries. If he doesn't he's delusional.

It is really going to depend on what he is asking for. I don't think there is any shot he is back if he wants top QB money because a team out there will offer it to him. If he wants a good team/organization while taking less money he will be back.
