Agree 100%. The problem is that media twists it as player vs management instead of excellent franchise QB working w/mgmt. Besides, there’s a decent chance that instead of a second Patriots dynasty rising out of that Super Bowl, there would have been Seahawks dynasty if Pete Carroll hadn’t been drunk on power & handed the ball to Marshawn. The NFL needs to get back to coaches being accountable to the players instead of being dictators.

That’s a valid point. Gifts are nice but are not a substitute for paychecks. The face of the franchise thing is more media in marketing then football. We just saw a team win a Super Bowl not just the QB. Nothing wrong w/a QB wanting to get paid but since the salary cap started in 1994 Steve Young’s pay accounted for the highest percentage of a SB winning QB at 13.1% until Tom Brady just now pushed it over 14%. After that is Eli Manning in 2011 (11.7%), Peyton Manning in 2006 (10.4%), and Brett Favre in 1996 (10.2%). The average spend on a Super Bowl QB has been just 6.4%. Wilson is an excellent QB but truth doesn’t care about how any of us feels. If the Seahawks were to spend a ton of money & build the best O-line in the the NFL then they wouldn’t need a $35M QB to win. 😀

Longer than it should, because he's only 5'10. That's what's ironic here, the original knock on him coming out of college is coming to fruition, now that he's older and can't get out of the pocket as easily to make short and intermediate throws. When defenses just started playing primary cover two and taking away the deep shots halfway through the year, he looked like a backup quarterback the rest of the season, for this very reason. It's only going to get worse.

You're an idiot. He gets paid as he should and they have plenty of money to give him what he needs, but they choose to do other things. They could have gone in on Jack Conklin this past offseason, they could have drafted Josh Jones from Houston MULTIPLE TIMES. They could have not spent $15M on Bruce Irvin and Greg Olsen, two moves that were clearly bad investments at the time of making them. They could have made a move for a new coordinator much sooner to help him get the ball out quicker. Its not his contract, it's their handling of everything once he signed the contract.

Tom Brady never talked about Legacy... and that's why he will have the greatest Legacy of all time. Russell Wilson takes a whole lot of money. And Russell Wilson holds the ball for a very long time. PFF had the Seahawks offensive line rated 8 overall so they were a top 10 offensive line in the NFL but it was Russell Wilson's fault for getting sacked so much because he hold on to the ball too long. He is too short to see over the top of the Defenders so he has to run further back than most quarterbacks
@tmorelli1982

That's exactly the reason. When teams started playing primary cover 2 and taking away his downfield shots, he quite literally looked like a backup quarterback the rest of the season, because he can't see over the line for short and intermediate throws, and isn't as elusive/mobile as he was coming into the league. If it wasn't for that no trade clause, I'd be all in on Seattle trading him to a team for the highest draft capital possible. All the teams his agent broached that he'd go to aren't worth it for the return

RW is a short man and he doesn't stay in the pocket because he can't see down field. When he's out of the pocket he puts himself at risk but also, the 400 lb linemen who simply cannot shift as nimbly as he does. You'd think that after a decade RW would figure it out.

I’m a life long NC State guy and have been to many Russell Wilson games. He was the guy. Hands down. Was checking for him coming out of high school. Check the history. Something about him forces coaches to make decisions. Not sure what it is. He is super consistent and great at being a QB. But he has no problem living life on his terms. To the point Tom O’Brien had to choose to go with Mike Glennon over him. Dumbest move ever in my opinion, but nevertheless. When he went to Wisconsin they fell in love with him and went away from their smash mouth identity. They got pass happy. You could tell some of the team got frustrated. They wound up going back to more of the run style a little later in the season. Then you have the Super Bowl debacle. Now this. There is a trend here. Not saying it’s on him. That’s my guy. This is what the "throwing the line under the bus" was??? DP repeatedly lists sack numbers while Russ talks about Brady's protection and how that was the key (obviously) to success and longevity . No prima donna here--he just wants to win!

Yeah, that's exactly what it looks like. He said they need to get better up front, with a shout out to Brown and letting the other 4 eat tire tread.

Maybe Russ shouldn't be going on shows if he didn't want to let things slip out. He doesn't have to talk with Dan Patrick.

Russ don't listen to the Seahawks they hate you and want you gone.You have already burned you Bridges and threw your Teammates under the Bus.Keep listening to whoever is giving you this great advice and express everything to the media.Come to the Niners your new home they can have Jimmy G and as many draft picks Seattle wants.You don't need those Bums they have never trusted or Believed in you and let's be honest the have always held you back from succeeding.Come home to San Francisco!

Typical NFL media, keep nagging the guy over and over again with the same question until he gives you a response you can use in a headline. They pulled the same shit with Shaun Alexander

The media has so overblown this. I bet the Seahawks players and management have already discussed this in house and are laughing at the whole media frenzy over this. At least I hope so.

Russell is a great quarterback remember that he would have had back to back superbowl championships had it not been for that wrong play that Pete Carroll called and he did beat Tom Brady the 1st time to get to that point.He could have that kind of success with great blockers I thought it was Bill Belichick that made Tom get great coverage but I have actually watched Tom be QB and coach Now if they could get Russ some help he would be even greater to .and it dont take a big salary just love for the game and wanting to be the best at what you do

sick of Eddie Hackle, half of his sacks is him holding on to it too long I've been to these games i see people open and sometimes he just won't go to them Jimmy Graham for instance was always open but he wouldn't pass to him like he wants to be the only star on this team.People are starting to get hip to his ways he's not this little angel everyone thinks he is. This interview backfired big time

How did this interview become such a media clicking bin of garbage? I've listened to several of Wilson's interviews since the season and he's never said he wants to be traded. Now it's just the media saying it's a back and forth power struggle betwen Russ and the team to see who gives in first. This whole idea of Wilson being traded is beyond stupid. The guy just wants more say in the operations, if Carroll won't ever budge then get rid of his old booty. I think he's the oldest coach in the league now right? Wilson isn't going anywhere.
