If the show goes to Netflix and Netflix retains the rights but let’s Jeff do what he wants I think it’s a win for everyone. Netflix would just hold the rights so no one else can screw with the show and gives Jeff the freedom to give us what he wants is a plus. Also being commercial free and possibly giving us the whole season at once would be cool but I’d still like it to be released weekly too build up the hype. That be the best way to go cause I do believe there were some season influenced by CBS that were not good at all.

@@jaystrange2662 Maybe, but I remember at least one reunion show with this Brian Gumble guy or whatever his name was and it was SO DAMN BAD! It was sometimes in the early seasons. Jeff is a legend. As far as I'm concerned it would be impossible for someone to replace him as the Survivor host. Not only is he really good at directing the conversations in TCs and just leading the Reunion show as well (a million times better than that Gumble guy), but his reactions are priceless, the way he talks to the contestants is fairly unique and you can tell that he loves and respects this game a lot. He poured his soul in it. He is literally the face of Survivor. His lines are iconic. I believe he is a large part of piloting the "Survivor family" concept. I think without him there would be no Survivor family (but rather smaller "families" from each season). He's the anchor of this show (alongside Mark Burnett) and I guarantee if someone ever replaces him, it will be mostly for money and will not love and respect the show as much and am also fairly sure that the popularity will drop abruptly.

I agree with your point-of-view, and I'd like to add that the fact that Rob and Sandra are watching the tribal councils is paving the ground for them to get involved in the final jury decision, either with a vote or at the very least with a jury speech explaining why player X should win. I remember during season 27 blood vs water, the producers showed a preview of the episode where they drew rocks. The producers aired an advertisement saying they were drawing rocks and showed Tyson, Katie, and Ciera holding out their hands. I was so pissed at that spoiler. Great video. I disagree of a few things, but I enjoy your videos. The game Survivor has always evolved and introduced new elements. Exile island, hidden immunity idols, returning (experienced) players vs. rookies, and recently edge of extinction. I’m still not sure I like the role of Sandra & Rob this season, but it still fits with the theme of Survivor evolving and creating new obstacles and opportunities for players to play the ultimate game. 👍👍

RE: going vs. Rob in fire challenge, Rob did say he would have been willing to deal. If she refused to make fire against Rob, the next offer might have been to go against Sandra. He did that with the next person, where she refused the initial challenge so he made it easier and then she accepted and won.

Quick question about current season... If instead of formatting the "island of the idols" the way they did, they had chosen to essentially copy Survivor South Africa: Champions and had Boston Rob and Sandra each live with a tribe and mentor/coach them (while also being unable to win or vote), do you think that would have been a better option? Laughably, in SA: Champions' case, they did not choose previous winners or even previous players, but retired pro athletes, who were unfamiliar with the game of Survivor (and it showed constantly and was pretty funny and essentially became a meme of the season, and the players often went against the advice of their coaches because they themselves were more knowledgeable and insightful about the game itself). I would definitely recommend to any Survivor fan to watch Survivor SA if you can, and a Russell video analyzing and comparing Champions to IotI (once it concludes) would be something I would definitely want to watch, because I feel like the Champions format for the coaches was handled better than in IotI.

The castaways can choose not to do Rob and Sandra’s tests. They have the ability to just walk away with no penalties and no rewards. I’m not wild about this theme, but it’s a lot less unfair than a guy spending most of the season sitting on an island bonding with the jury, and then getting back into the game right at the end with an idol, and winning the whole thing.

Rob and Sandra are introducing the new players to several aspects of the game. In the first episode, they showed how to make fire. In the second episode, they demonstrated paying attention to what other people are telling you. Then they have what they call a test at the end which is in reality a demonstration of the aspect of risk taking. For what it's worth, here's how I would've reacted to each of the tests: 1. Declined. I saw how quickly Rob made fire, I know how long it took me to make fire, so no thank you. 2. For those of you that didn't see the episode, they were discussing their personal lives and then the player (I don't know their names either) was offered a quiz: 5 questions on what they were talking about. If the contestant could answer 4 questions correctly, they'd be awarded with an immunity idol valid for 2 tribal councils. I would've accepted the quiz, but first offered to raise the stakes: If I can answered all 5 questions correctly the idol does not expire.
