Thank you Russell for the fantastic review of the product. Its highly appreciated. So helpful for ppl like me to make up their mind. I will go for it and get the lance but will go for Karcher K7 full pack. I think i will have enough power to do plenty of work in garden and rest of the house. Stay healthy and good luck!

Just spotted your video as I've ordered the telescopic lance myself. Impressive result considering you are using a K4 with cold water feed. I'm sure if you'd have a K7 the picture would be totally different with higher pressure and flowrate. For ultimate result you'd need hot water like the pros. I'll be trying it in connection with my 30 year old HDS750 (not pretty anymore but still does it's job). The lance can take up to 60degC, so you could always connect your K4 to a hot water tap or run a suction hose from your bath tub. Important: K4 can only handle up to 40degC which will still be better than cold water and the suction hose always needs to be bigger bore. Nice video!

I certainly did find the review useful. It was excellent, detailed and honest. I would expect nothing less from a Yorkshire man. However, I was really struggling to decide where the accent was from. Initially I thought your accent could well have been from South Yorkshire, even Sheffield, but then I heard the way you said "work" and "nine" and they sounded like a very slight Hull accent. Anyway, something I do want to know is how did it perform on your actual windows. I saw you soap them down but not clean the soap off. Does it leave faint limescale marks where droplets dry?
@RussellPlatten
@RussellPlatten 2 жыл бұрын
It is a Hull accent. I never really used if for the windows, but I reckon you would get the marks if you did not dry them afterwards and lived in an area with hard water. :-)

So I brought one of these and tried it out yesterday. Fully extended it easily reaches the guttering of out house. I actually had really good results by using the dirt blaster Lance from my K4 with some plug and play detergent. The dirt blaster gave me extra reach and was far more aggressive with the years of dirt on the guttering than the standard jet. Very pleased with the results.

Very helpful video Russell... Just wondering whether you have tried using the Kärcher lance with the AVA pressure washer(s)...??
@RussellPlatten
@RussellPlatten 11 ай бұрын
An Ava hose will not fit the Kärcher Telescopic lance without an adapter Colin: avastore.co.uk/product/ava-adapter-ava-female-to-male-karcher/ The Kärcher hose has the two flats machined on the brass connector whereas the Ava hose has a round connector with no flats. It is a little confusing, because Kärcher accessories fit the Ava guns, but Kärcher guns (and lance) will not fit the Ava hose. :-)
@colinmeredith7114
@colinmeredith7114 11 ай бұрын
Hi Russell... Thanks for your reply... I appreciate the subtle differences of the two systems but wondering whether you had tried with an adapter. I purchased a couple of new Kärcher brushes recently and they wouldn't fit the AVA gun!! Upon closer inspection, I found that once the security cowl was unscrewed from the Kärcher brush then the brush fitted perfectly. I then tried a 2nd new, but different, brush from Kärcher and that wouldn't fit either until the security cowl was removed. I have advised AVA but need to file-down the security cowls of the Kärcher accessories, and possibly the AVA gun, in order for them to fit properly. The front end of the AVA gun has a strange lip with two cut-out sections so perhaps this can be filed down too..?? It may also be possible to lift the two areas of the AVA security cowl at the end of the gun and remove. Whichever way it's viewed, the security cowls are preventing the Kärcher accessories from being fitted and this also applies to the lances supplied with the new K-brushes. Due to the security cowls of both systems, certain accessories will still not fit, even with the adapters, unless the security cowling is modified...there is insufficient clearance with the cowls of both systems fully unscrewed.

If you use the snow foam lance the on the end of the telescopic pole there is no real pressure generated and it certainly is not enough to damage roof tiles. I would use the Vario Joint and the snow foam lance and point it downwards onto the tiles. The only issue is getting the mixture right. :-)

Thanks Peter. That was excellent. Can you tell me what the reach of the lance is when fully extended - I mean from your left hand, whenyou're in the harness, to tip. Of the 4m length it looks about 3m. Do you lose much pressure when you use the vario joint?
@RussellPlatten
@RussellPlatten 3 жыл бұрын
The total length when full extended is 4.17m from the plastic fitting where the hose feeds into the back to the tip of the lance (without any nozzle/fitting/attachment connected). Fully retracted it is 1.2m without anything attached. If you use the foam grip on the lance there is around 0.4m from your hand to the socket for the attachments. So with the supplied nozzle attached the reach from your left hand with the lance extended is around 3.5m. You will notice on my video that my left hand is further up the lance than the foam so it is less than that. As for the pressure with the vario joint, it is not affected in any way as the restriction is all at the attachment. :-)

@RussellPlatten
@RussellPlatten 4 жыл бұрын
I like it, but it will not remove tough stains using the high pressure jet alone. I have a Karcher rotary brush attachment and this can be used to remove stubborn stains, but it is hard work. I love the lance for spraying detergent quickly and covering large areas. I spray the area with detergent using the lance, then brush it with several different brushes depending on where it is. I have a car cleaning brush which I modified to fit on an extension pole that I use for my swimming pool for the high points. I use step ladders and a hand brushes for the lower areas. I then rinse it off using the lance. I am happy with the results. :-)
@RichardWraith
@RichardWraith 3 жыл бұрын
Think about what a stain is, then you will see why water alone will never shift it. This isn't Karcher's fault, that's just science. You need chemicals and HEAT to break them down. This is where reviewers often blame a product for not being able to do something it could never do nor claims to do. Pressure washers cannot remove stains from anything. A stain is a chemical reaction, and like the green on his gable ends, it got baked on, and stained it, yet he is still disappointed that an extension lance wasn't able to undo this? I would have had a bottle of fungicidal moss cleaner in a foam cannon on the end of that gun, with safety goggles on, and left it to soak in. Bit unfair to blame the lance for not being able to remove stains from PVC cladding, especially when using a K4 and with cold water.

I have finished cleaning the outside of my house and I am happy with the lance. I had to use a brush on a pole for the gable ends and a hand brush for the fascias, soffits and gutters, but it saved me a lot of time applying detergent, and rinsing off. It reduced the ladder work considerably and meant that I could reach those hard to reach areas. My house is now looking great. It did not live up to my expectations though, I was hoping it would clean everything without any other intervention, probably a bit unrealistic. Knowing what I know now, I would still buy it. It is a lot of money though! :-)
