Why do I *"need to"* subscribe, comment & like? Why can I not just watch your videos and determine on my own if I liked your videos enough to subscribe without being instructed to in EVERY VIDEO you make? You should be making these videos because it's a fun hobby for you. You should not be making videos in order to make monetary gain. Do this because you enjoy informing and educating people, and if people have it in their heart to give you money out of their own free will then let it be. I enjoy most of your videos, but I never subscribe and like the content of vloggers who make this request in every video.

Other than the map of the former Soviet republics at around 22:20 having Ukraine and Belarus transposed, this is a great analysis of Russia's geopolitical position that takes its history into account. @@user-sv9nf5jb3m that's part of why I qualified it with "simmilar to NATO". They get along well enough for economic purposes now they just need to agree to mutual defense. Waving a bigger stick means they are less likely to need to use it.

Peace has never been anything but tentative, it's a utopian ideal based on a nirvana fallacy. Every species on this planet fights to survive in one way or another. War is simply an extension of that with the added element of complex human elements like human nature, greed, ego, revenge, etc. It's so easy to sit in a comments section and say everyone just needs to choose mutual trust and constructive solutions, but the situation on the ground is never that simple.

"We believe the absence of a peace treaty in our relations is absurd" is not an intent for resolution. It's a tacit acknowledgment that war between the two nations would serve neither of their interests. Either a better quote is needed, or the thesis of that statement should be reconsidered to reflect Putin's ambivalence about resolving the matter.

Operation "Barbossa"? Come on...
@leifkhas7425
@leifkhas7425 7 ай бұрын
It's Operation Bar-ba-rosa, not "barbosa." Also you have Ukraine and Belarus swapped for some reason. Other than these and other similar minor mistakes it's a great video. I think a better explanation about how the Soviet economy failed would be something like this: "Factory is making cereal. Clever factory manager would intentionally slow down production of cereal. Government allocates more funds to increase production of cereal." This shows, imo, a much larger problem with the Soviet system. The workers and managers would play all kinds of games with the State to get more funding and better working conditions. In response the State would create even more bureaucracy to try and prevent this. Which led to even less people actually producing anything, and also more fraud, graft and bribery. Another huge problem is that because everyone gets paid basically the same, regardless of position and effort, there was little incentive to say, go to medical school and become a doctor because you would still have the same lifestyle as a street sweeper.

Saying that Japan was on the losing side of WW2 because they took side with the Nazis is not only dead wrong, it is the most massive understatement I've ever heard! JAPAN WAS WORSE than the Nazis during that time. They were borderline savages and thought of all non Japanese people as terrible brutes, and they believed this so fully that soldiers killed themselves by the thousand to avoid capture by the US... Because they thought we would treat them so badly. This isn't an example of their horribleness, but it gives you some idea as to their mindset at the time. They had widespread torture camps across east Asia that would make Nazi scientists blush.
