Europe isn't paying them in Rubles though. Both Germany and France refused because their contracts weren't worded that way. Japan's Finance Minister has also expressed that there's no clear advantage for the Russians getting paid in Rubles in the first place. Getting access to more foreign currency would be in their current interest, since it'd let them deal with countries that are on the fence but afraid of getting paper money.

Regarding the LNG that is great news indeed for USA but just a couple of issues. lets talk about numbers and as I am old and do not have the same excellent mathematical skills that the people who done this deal have I decided to engage the services of my 13 year son with some simple mathematics. Total world LNG Tankers available 642 with a combined average carrying capacity of 170,000 cubic metres. So 642 * 170,000 = 109,140,000 now it takes roughly 28/30 days for a round trip from USA to Europe lets multiply that by 12 for the 12 months in the year so 109,140,000 * 12 = 1,309,680,000 Now that is assuming USA/Europe uses the entire world LNG Tanker fleet just for trans Atlantic crossings and they do not do any other shipments, how will they transport the other 13,690,320,000 cubic metres from the 15,000,000,000 that they are talking about ? That is even assuming that Europe has the necessary infra-structure to allow such imports, but lets say that they do. Either my 13 year son has very bad mathematics and I must talk to his school or something does not seem right here. When discussing this issue about the volumes required and transport elements with a few friends, they came up with the perfect logistical answer for this volume of movement, it will come from Narnia 🙂
