Russia's McDonalds Replacement is having problems...

I recently made a video called Russia's New McDonalds 'Replacement', in which I talked about the new Russian McDonalds known as Vkusno i tochka, which roughly translates to "Tasty, Period". After the real McDonald's left Russia due to the "special operation in Ukraine", Russia had to come up with a replacement. It basically has the same menu and items, and from the reviews it seemed pretty on par with the good old McDonalds that's been first opened in the times of the late USSR. However, less than a month in, the Russian bootleg McDonalds already seems to be having problems, including moldy burgers, lack of french fries and more. Let's talk about it. Smash like and sub thx xoxo

I'm a fastfood resturant manager and it's definitely Tasty Periods fault for having birds eat their products on the street. Just letting them sit out there is a failure in itself, even without any birds, as no doubt bread arrived frozen and are now allowed to sit out in the lot and thaw. Failure to bring deliveries inside in a timely manner speaks to poor management and laxness among the staff. Food safety is always #1 "We always throw that layer out" is also one of the most obvious lies I've ever heard of. Of course they don't.

Bot 🤖 unrelated lost comment. This is McDonald’s logistics is very massive undertaking to consider be it experienced for decades in financial, customer trust/media reputation, lessons learned of failures, controversial food quality, staff and manager training to the food producers to take care of. Running a restaurant with dozens of customers go in and out, planning ahead weeks or a years to supplant and maintain. It’s like running a mall in a form of a franchise in a worldwide restaurant

I think what the ViT managers failed to realise is that mcdonald's isn't a restaurant, it's a logistics company. Keeping hundreds of locations stocked up with even servably fresh food is incredibly difficult. Mcdonalds can do it because they're absolutely obsessive about logistics and hygiene, so if standards slip without them, the effect is immediately noticeable.
@russianvoodoo

The things is that Russian Mcdonalds were run by russian managers, supply chains and products were 98% russian (including Heinz sauces made from russian oil subproducts). The only thing that really changes is sanction, copyrights on some menu positions, software that they use now to run restaurants and equipment which is mostly foreign I suppose. I'd say, in theory this chain should run like nothing really happened, but in reality new top management and new factors could lead to significant quality downgrade. But it's still to early to judge in my opinion.

The birds eating the buns is actually far more serious than Roman made it out to be. Yes he did say that the top layer gets thrown out but what about the next two or three layers below that? The birds are seen perched on the edge, meaning stuff like feather dust, bird shit and other assorted crap can fall or float into the layers below. There's also a good chance the trays for the buns don't have solid bases, which would make it easier for all the bird goodies to fall through. The entire lot should be thrown out.

@@Hand-in-Shot_Productions Estonian also has "söökla" for "dining place", derived from "sööma" which means "to eat" In slangish Estonian, such term as "öökla" exists -- rhimes well with "söökla", doesn't it? "Öökla" is derived from "öökima", which means: to throw up; to buke. The term is derived via onomatopoeia. Thus, it means bukeing place. As someone who is majoring in Industrial Manufacturing, I have seen career postings in our advising office from McDonalds offering a 6-year contract, consisting of being a salaried employee for 2 years at $60,000, then transitioning to a store manager after that experience for 4 years at $200,000 minimum According to numerous students who have reported back to alumni advising, this is legit. It’s a fuckton of math and logistics, but they’re also focusing a lot more on soft skills, such as conflict-resolution and stress management. Unfortunately, a lot of times regular hourly employees don’t get access to these benefits since McDonalds will get the moon and stars for their graduates, but don’t care about the regulars unless it’s a SA/ harassment case or it’s a safety concern

that’s honestly the strongest part of the whole company, having such a robust supply of goods to ensure that they’re basically always open and able to sell their food. hence why they are also able to do really well in undeveloped countries, where food supply is generally inconsistent, because at McDonald’s people can buy good (nutritious, though not very healthy) food at a cheap price regardless of the time of year or weather.

I used to work in Russian Maccas several years ago. Yes, we had moldy buns once , but they were thrown into a trash compactor immediately. And yes when the buns are shipped they reside outside in pallets(for some time untill properly stored inside) just like on the video with birds. The moldy buns problem is probably simple, the McDonald's bun providers must have decided they won't throw away the bread they had already produced so they just shelved it between the transition of the old McDonald's and the Tasty Period. They didn't care about quality control since it's no longer McDonald's they are selling to. McDonald's being a more experienced company would have forcibly made them throw it all away, plus their sanctions would have ended their business.

either that or it's just negligence on the employee's parts. from working at a mcdonalds, we'd put stickers on the bun packages saying when to use them by and some of the employees just don't care and some of the especially stupid ones would even grab still thawing buns to use that have stickers on them literally telling you not to use it yet even when there's thawed buns right below them that should be used by the end of the day.

Actually its extremely unusual, fast food chains have strict protocols, when's the last time anyone you know got food poisoning from a big chain like McDonald's? Practically never. In fact, they're #1 on the list. Germans, Spaniards, Irishmen and French drink significantly more than we do. Finns drink just about the same. But somehow, it's us that get labeled as drunken degenerates time after time after time. Somehow, foreigners find it alright to portray us as vodka-loving barbarians, and this attitude shows every time people casually discuss my country. "Oh, they blocked railroad transfer to Kaliningrad? Too bad, how is Ivan gonna survive without his daily dose of samogon?" "Oh, there was a fire on a production facility? They must've been celebrating, and the fourth bottle was a bit of an overkill, even for them." "Oh, they had a potato shortage? Guess it's all reserved for the more urgent needs. After all, vodka must flow, comrade." Just stop with this bullshit already, it's blatant xenophobia. Think for a moment if you could comfortably make those jokes about black people. Or Jews. I do agree that they are dehumanising, and I know for a fact that Russian are not number 1 drinkers. but they did invent vodka which is why the joke was said. Uh....no ! everyone knows that the "Russian way" is to cut corners and skim money. When the suppliers realize that they can purchase the "same" raw ingredients from a cheaper (i.e. less reputable) source - they will do so. Leading to lax standards and inferior supplies. I have also seen them in plastic bags by lot (more that in a package in a super market but maybe 2 to 3dozen. The potatoes for fries has largely to do with moisture content. Most potatoes have too much water in them to fry up right. You can cut fries from "wet" potatoes and dry them in an oven on low heat they do just fine. I remember when they opened McDonald's in Moscow in 1990. They had to source apples from Poland and tomatoes from Bulgaria, etc. But I think vkyc ochka is going to fail at this rate. And that's just zad.

As for the French fries? I bet it's actually a problem with the production chain, it's a surprisingly intricate process to make McD quality fries which involves a very specific russet type potato, almost 20 ingredients/chemicals, cutting, partial frying and flash freezing.

I simply hate MacDonalds French fries. What the f** are those sticks? The burguers are great, but I never buy fries. Burger King fries are better. Mostly because they resemble more the way we do it in my country. Burger King fries taste like childwood

@@Duck-wc9de As an American I can't blame you for your opinion of McDonald's fries. One thing that makes burger kings alot better is that besides being thicker cut, they also spray this slightly sugary additive on them right before they're served that allow the fries to retain heat and stay crispy for much longer. Modern day McDonald's fries start to get cold and soggy within 15 mins. That's why when ever I get McDonald's usually my go to order two McDoubles with no ketchup and I tell them to add Big Mac sauce and lettuce (which are effectively Big Macs without the middle bun for half the price lol) with a large fountain drink and just skip the fries altogether myself.
